“My flame failure light wouldn't reset. He tried resetting the switch but it wouldn't work. He said the fan didn't have electrical supply to it. Whilst doing this he kept trying to reset the switch and eventually it did restart on its own. He then checked again the fan and it now had electrical supply. He mentioned we had a few small leaks from under the boiler and put a sealant into the water supply. All in all was done and finished in 10 minutes even though the boiler started on its own and he didn't know why. He charged £55 for the call out which wasn't mentioned the phone.”

Response from Alan Haigh:
Called to the above to view a faulty boiler. On inspection found boiler would not come off reset. Reset the flue stat and tested boiler, fired up fan was noisy, sprayed fan with WD40, Fan ran quietly also customer pointed out boiler losing pressure, found isolation valve to be leaking, told customer that new valves where required but could put a leak sealant into system advised may stop leaks. Customer was happy with the works that was carried out he asked how much, told him £55.00 plus materials which was 25.00. Went to van to write invoice out, he came and said how much 80.00 altogether, he said the last engineer only charged 30.00, I said ok but we charge 55.00 which is a fair hourly rate. I have been told that I am quite reasonable with my rates, as some charge 100.00 per hr. We left him with heating and hot water, also if he didn't run out of gas he would not of needed us. You can't please all people, this customer wanted the work done for nothing.
