The tick you can trust

There are two million tradespeople to choose from in the UK.

It’s why – given a choice – when a tap’s leaking, the boiler’s broken or it’s time for a new kitchen, 8 out of 10 people choose a tradesperson with the Checkatrade tick.

We check every tradesperson

Every tradesperson has to pass 12 thorough checks to join us. We check they are who they say they are. And we check they have the right qualifications, insurance and experience. So when a tradesperson’s got the Checkatrade tick, you know you’re in safe hands.

We check their reviews

Our checks don’t stop when members join us. Every tradesperson agrees to keep our six quality standards and we check their reviews to make sure they do. These checks also mean we – and you – know their reviews are from people in your area, writing about real jobs.

We guarantee their work

We’re so confident in our members, we guarantee their work for 12 months (for up to £1,000). So in the rare cases something does go wrong, we’ll help make it right.

Tradespeople you can trust since 1998

In 1998, France hosted the World Cup, Geri left the Spice Girls and a tornado hit the small seaside town of Selsey in West Sussex. All kinds of tradespeople turned up to ‘help’ with the clean-up, but they weren’t all the real deal. There were too many bodged jobs and local people were being ripped off. We didn’t think this was right, so we stepped in to help our neighbours. We created a printed directory of local tradespeople who we’d personally met and checked. And it didn’t stop in Selsey. Other towns wanted to stop rogue tradespeople too, so we expanded and came up with an even better vetting process, by combining our checks with real people’s reviews.

Almost 25 years later, we’re still helping neighbours all over the UK. Today, we have 44,000 members who’ve been reviewed by over 6 million people. And we’re so proud of our tradespeople (and our checks), that we guarantee their work.
