  • Water not pumping out of dishwasher

    10Verified Review

My 10 year old dishwasher stopped pumping out the water on the Sunday - I called Steve on the Monday and he came out to have a look on the Wednesday. He realised what the problem was and he even had the new pump on his van. He replaced the pump and left the dishwasher all working again. Very pleased with the service - very friendly but still professional. Price was reasonable much cheaper than having to get a new dishwasher and I would definatley use this company again.

  • My oven stopped working.

    0Verified Review

My oven stopped working and the appliance service man came in just took off the screw and put them back couldn’t even say what was wrong with the app and he made me pay £45 for just coming to my house to dismantle and couple back the oven. I am so disappointed and not happy this is a reap off.

  • Washing machine stopped working and full of water was on the floor.

    10Verified Review

I contacted Steve by mobile phone, good impression. The service was dealt the following morning. He arrived on time, polite, checking the machine and immediately started repairing. He works very efficiently. Even before leaving, he checked the washing machine thoroughly to make sure it is working properly. He is very trustworthy and does a great job. I would very highly recommend him. Thank you, Steve.

Appliance Services was established as a family-owned business in 1992, but our experience dates back to 1980 which is when we first started working in domestic appliance repairs. Our purpose in setting up the business was to give our clients an opportunity to save time and money and to offer a more ethical and environmentally-friendly alternative to replacing an appliance whenever something went wrong. We wanted to give customers a better-value service and give them the choice of repairing an appliance rather than automatically discarding and replacing it.
The early days
So we set up Appliance Services, focusing on domestic electrical appliances and giving our customers a good alternative to ‘discard and replace’. Word of mouth spread the news about us quite quickly and we began to build up a reputation for honesty, integrity, and getting things fixed! Our philosophy of working is to be honest with our clients and where we feel that an appliance cannot be fixed, we will let them know.
How things are today
In terms of how we work, they are no different. What has changed is that appliances have evolved and become more complex which is often used as a reason for manufacturers to recommend replacement rather than repair. Our knowledge has also evolved though and we can fix an appliance today just as we could in the early days. Appliances may have become a little more complex, but they still run on motors and timers and they will still leak, stick, and develop faults. And just as we did then, we apply the same values today and let our clients know if we think something is broken beyond repair or if it is not cost-effective to fix.
We may have been doing this for nearly 40 years, but we still get the same kick out of turning on an appliance and finding that our repair has done the job so that it’s working again.
Want to try to repair your broken-down appliance instead of dealing with the hassle of buying and installing a new one? Then just get in touch with us
How we work
We look at each job as a new puzzle, something to decipher and get to the bottom of before building back up into a working appliance.
The first step will be a phone call (usually, although it can be an email of course) which gives us a  chance to find out more about the appliance and what it’s doing (or not doing as the case may be). Our many years of experience give us the knowledge to determine more often than not what has been the likely cause of the breakdown. This consultation is free and you are not charged.
Assuming we think that it’s something that can be fixed (it is most of the time!) we will arrange an appointment. Most of the time that can be either on the same or the next day. We work Mondays to Fridays and Saturday mornings and our first appointment is at 7.30am, so even if you need to get to work we can find a time to suit your schedule. We will always allocate you a morning or afternoon slot (so you’re not hanging around waiting all day) and call you before we come round, just in case you’ve popped out to run an errand.
We find that over 90% of jobs are completed on the first visit so you probably only have to be around to let us in once. This is because we can usually repair whatever is faulty or broken in your appliance, but if we do have to replace a part we can do so from the extensive range of spares that we carry with us in the van.
We charge a fixed fee for our labour, no matter how many times we have to come out for the same fault, only adding the cost for any parts on top of that and you only pay at the end of a repair.
The next time you find you have a broken appliance, don’t delay.
