  As an architectural practice, we had high expectations from our builders who were undertaking extensive renovation works in our own commercial premises. Our expectations were exceeded by the highly talented and personable team at Home Buttons, a company that we have appointed repeatedly over the years, for good reason. From excellent communication skills to the precision of their craftmanship, the level of pride that they take in their work is relatively rare in our industry. Speaking on behalf of the whole consultant team, the team at Home Buttons deserve the very highest of recommendations.

• Restoration of Victorian mid-terrace, exposing original London brick using conservation techniques.

  Conservation and restoration work involved delicately removing layers of paint, brick-repairs, recess pointing and working with lime according to Historic England guidance. Shas windows were repaired and decorated, partywalls rebuilt. The front garden was reinstated under garden architecture, installing Victorian railings, and Yorkstone steps. Daku and team demonstrated expertise in both heavy lifting and exacting, painstaking conservation work. Whilst abroad, we trusted Daku with our keys and found our house as we left it. Works and cost were pre-agreed, specified and contracted using JCT contract template.

  All the above work was carried out exquisitely. The replacement of the windows required that the interior wall of that room be undone, including removal of old sealed shutters. Not only was the installation meticulously carried out, but the entire room was repainted and pre-existing cracks in the walls repaired. Every item of furniture, and artwork was replaced in perfect condition. The same with replacing the boiler in the kitchen, which required removal of the old one plus partial removal of adjoining wall and tiles all of which was immaculately replaced. 5 stars.

• Replace rear slate roof and dormer; structural repair, re-point and paint to rear wall and windows

  Started as roof and dormer repairs and became structural and general repairs to entire rear wall and roof of Victorian mid-terrace house. In addition to roof/dormer, the rear wall was strengthened, repaired, re-pointed, painted; all windows repaired and painted and myriad other minor fixes along the way. The quality of work was extremely high; Daku is a skillful builder and designer; his team are hard working, polite, tidy and friendly. Work was to budget and specification, often with extra work included. Unexpected problems appeared but additional work/cost was transparent and fair.

• Rear exterior roof replacement and skylight installation

  Daku of Home Buttons proposed a schedule of roof works that would dovetail with a kitchen refurb. It also involved a complicated new skylight installation. There were challenging discoveries for the building team as the roof was opened up, but Daku implemented solutions without compromising on quality. So much care was taken with the property and the job was completed to a high standard, to deadline. The result is a new, impenetrable fibreglass roof with a toughened glass skylight that carries a 25-year guarantee. I’ve already recommended Home Buttons to friends for residential building works.
