Lots of light in this room, from window and mirrors, plus the contrast from wooden doors, helps this strong colour work

Bedroom Spraying

This customer wanted a spray finish. Here, we're in the process of carefully masking off everything we do not want paint on!

Modern masking tapes and coverings mean it's possible to be very precise about what gets painted and what doesn't.

Once the masking is removed, we have a great line around - and no paint on - the existing shelving.

This diagonal is thoroughly sanded back, but in order to stop the edges of the feathered paint lifting, we apply Zinsser Peel Stop to lock them down, then sand again once dry

Large Project - Exterior Woodwork - MDC Decorations Reading

Back door prepped, filled and ready for first coat

Satellite cable taped out of the way, and will be reattached with new fixings after decoration.

This garage door is showing faint split lines in the relatively thin plywood used.  To soften these, we apply two coats of Xim Peel Bond, a filling product.

After sanding back, these horizontal slats are given several coats of Xim Peel Bond, an American product that binds, seals and fills small imperfections in the wood. This build up a coat of protection on the wood as well as making the end result more aesthetically pleasing.  A brilliant product, sadly rarely used in the UK.

It's difficult to make this picture out, but it's a specialist resin repair we've carried out to a gable and noggins (you can just make out the gutter end cap on the top right).  Resin is stronger and longer lasting than the original wood, and has saved our client the expense of having a carpenter replace whole pieces, one of which extends into the house and would have to be accessed through a ceiling..

It is often better in the long run to strip down badly weathered window sills, rather than try and just sand down the worst bits.

These gable ends look a bit worse for wear, but the wood is perfectly sound and with correct preparation will look as good as new

Paint has failed on both vertical pieces of the right-hand dormer.  They'll be removed and replaced.

This gable end isn't too bad, but will still be given a thorough preparation before new paint is applied

Window showing signs of wear where a previous attempt to make good erosion to the edge of the sill has failed.  Two different types of paint used here, so sill will be completely stripped back and started again.

Metal frame of this garage door will be sanded back, treated with an anti-rust sealant before being redecorated.  Many frame screws have worked themselves loose over time; we'll retighten or replace them.

This gable end takes the worst of the sun.  Needs completely stripping to ensure redecoration lasts as long as possible

All these dormers have weathered.  Some wood will need replacing.  This often works out cheaper for our clients in the long run, and we like that.

This picture shows weathering in more detail.  Scaffolding is most cost-efficient option to work on these windows.

This dormer has panels that need replacing.  Its awkward position means maintenance has not been easy to carry out.

Many windows are like this, with paint failing on the edges that face the sun.  Old and silvered wood will be sanded back to fresh, new fibres and redecorated.

Looking good and will stay that way for many years to come!

Gable End

Funny angle, but this gable end was fully sanded back after taking a beating from the sun and elements.  Oil-primed before being epoxy filled and sanded to give a smooth finish, it's now ready for finishing.

Lovely finish on this woodwork, thanks to specialist Swedish paint Scala Solid V

The beauty of white is that everything goes with it.

Whole room is brightened considerably, and looks modern and fresh.

You can see the crosslining joins here, but paint will make these unnoticeable.

There are seven sockets here, and one piece of paper.

Ceiling lining begins.  This technique works very well in older houses.
