Company info
I started working in Design after completing a Fine Art & Broadcast (BJourn) degree in 1992. After years in Design (mostly product, broadcast, business, exhibitions and set design) and designing a number of health clinics (since 2002), I focussed my Masters Degree in 2016 on Interior Architecture with a focus on interior impacts on wellbeing and mental health. I was totally impacted by the lack of non-toxic products in interior design and architecture, from paint to insulation, flooring to tiles, insulation to fireproofing and thus focussed my efforts on researching materials and products that do no harm to humans or the planet. FreeSpace Design was born from this desire to create healthy spaces. I have found that the most ethical, harm-free, healthy interior products are Cradle to Cradle Certified and I am pleased to say that they are sustainable, circular and safe, all optimized for social fairness (no slavery etc), material health (non-toxic for people and planet), designed for re-use (circular) and water and energy efficient (waste and pollution being a key factor considered in accreditation). No other products in the world have such an independent, holistic and rigorous accreditation that is science-based and audited for the health of both humans and nature. FreeSpace Design introduces UK clients to a whole new world of interior health, where we spend on average 93% of our time. It is vital we change the trend of toleration to toxic products and choose a healthy, sustainable design future for us all. We make this easy for London specifiers, architects, product designers and commercial practices who understand that sustainable, safe and circular interiors are vital for health. I am thus registered with Clean Growth UK, ICRS (Institute of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability), Checkatrade, CEC (Circular Economy Club), a Founding Partner in 540 WORLD and Ergotec Health. We work with home owners, industry and public bodies seeking to specify and know more about Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products in the UK - those aiming to build healthy buildings.
