Checkatrade Express - Fair Use Policy

Express is here to help customers and tradespeople book and pay for jobs easily and safely through Checkatrade.
This policy explains what “fair use” means - so everyone knows what’s okay, what’s not, and how we keep Express working well for everyone.
Using Express fairly
Everyone using Express must:
Use it only for real jobs and real payments.
Give clear, accurate and honest information.
Keep all booking messages and payments on Checkatrade, unless you both clearly agree to switch to an offline payment.
Be respectful and professional.
We may check activity on the platform to help spot misuse or fraud.
Fair Use
To keep Express fair, both customers and tradespeople must:
Communicate clearly – respond promptly, keep each other updated, and confirm any changes through the platform.
Give reasonable notice – if a job needs to be cancelled or rearranged, let the other person know as soon as possible and if applicable in accordance with the Cancellation Policy.
Stay on the platform – once a booking request is made, don’t try to move the job or payment off Express, or agree to do so if asked.
Manage bookings properly – confirm, complete and cancel jobs through Checkatrade, and mark them as finished when done.
Act honestly and fairly – don’t create fake or test bookings, misuse reviews or feedback, or behave in a way that’s dishonest, abusive or threatening.
Leave fair feedback – reviews must be accurate, honest and based on your own experience, following the Checkatrade Review Guidelines.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
If anyone, a Trade or a Customer, misuses Express, Checkatrade may take any action it considers appropriate. This can include warnings, limits, suspension, or permanent removal from the service.
Where possible, we’ll tell you why action has been taken and, unless we need to act immediately (for example, to protect users or prevent fraud), we’ll give you the chance to contact us if you think a mistake has been made.
7. Reporting Misuse
If You believe someone is misusing Express, please let Us know at support@checkatrade.com. We review all reports in line with this policy and may take appropriate action.
8. Updates
We may update this Fair Use Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on the Checkatrade website and will take effect immediately upon posting.
