I was quoted a £59 call-out, which quickly escalated to £278 after I was told the lock was “unpickable” and required more complex work. At the time, I accepted this due to the urgency of being locked out and trusted the explanation given.

However, I’ve since discovered that the exact same lock at this property was opened by another locksmith just a year earlier using standard picking methods, with only a basic call-out fee charged.

This raises serious concerns about whether the difficulty of the job was misrepresented

This man came over to open our garden room door as we had just lost the key, confirming it would only cost £79 after recovering photos only to charge £99 once he came over to our house. He asked us to review his work on his website as soon as he finished his job standing over us and watching but as I thought this was a red flag, I insisted I would as soon as he left (thank goodness I never did). Two days later and the lock is jammed and he will not come over and help fix this issue free of charge.
