Old Cafe Layout & Design

Stud Wall Boarded

Wall was clad in Birch Ply sheets so whole area could be painted seamlessly once shelving was made and fitted

All reveals and door openings were clad and any gaps filled for a smooth finish

Shelving was fitted using a French Cleat System to allow for a seamless floating shelf with lots of strength

We then got creative with the shelving design to try and fit in with the 80's style theme of the cafe

We reclaimed the existing scaffold boards that had been used else where in the previous cafe and made the new Countertop Layout

New fridge housing was boxed in and holes filled to tie in with the existing seating area, the kick board to the seats were tiled also to complement the 80s theme

Flooring was layed out in random sections to allow for different painted finishes at a later date

Brass trim was used to edge the walkways through the cafe and also down to the existing tattoo studio below

We broke down the plywood sheets into lengths and laid them in a herringbone pattern on all the walkways through the cafe, almost to direct the customers the focal points throughout

The client tried out lots of different variants of stains/ varnishes/ colours

Booth was painted and a raised platform built for the new seating configuration

The new seating for the booth was built and again the kick boards were tiled to tie in with the other areas throughout

We made a bespoke table to fit into the narrow booth, it was later painted to complement the other pieces

The client had 2 huge Gameboys that we mounted on the backside of the other small seating area, this was the first one being hung again with a French Cleat system

Both gameboys were installed along with a large Birch Plywood Skirting

The other side of the wall to where the Gameboys hung the client wanted a small seating area built

We used the Birch Plywood again her to build a floating style Bar/Table and replicated the herringbone pattern from the walkways

We chamfered all the edges to give a v groove affect which shows off the herringbone design beautifully.

The client then asked for a 80's themed gaming mural with tiling so we came up with this design of the classic space invader imagery

The client wanted to matching tables so we ended up doubling up sheets of plywood and building the bases from some traditional style turned legs and frames

The Client had bought some old dodgems and had them fully refurbished, he wanted them to be elevated from the ground so that they could be used as a seating area.

We raised the height of the platforms so access to the seats would be easier and then clad them in plywood to tie in with existing decor

we had to build platforms for both dodgems to sit on and then also crate a flooring for the insides of both waltzers along with some kind of bespoke table that would stretch between the 2 waltzers themselves.

Multiple Acros were then used to bare the load of the roof until the new steel was fitted
