We carry out repairs all different types of pipework including pitch fibre (which is inherently defective). We use a combination of high tension winches, reformers and structural soft felt lining to force the pipework back to its original shape.

One way to prevent internal flooding during a blockage is the installation of a Burns Chamber which is a metal plate secured within the manhole to stop water rising and overflowing however they are only incorporated as part of a cast iron system. Drain-smart.co.uk

Some engineers decide to take the easy way out and rather than use a pipework reducer they simply cut plastic pipework and push it into the drain run. These connections are not watertight and can cause more problems. Although earthenware is a popular material now, back in the 70's pitch fibre was most commonly used, but after thousands of miles were installed it was found to be defective and in need of replacement. Deformation of pipework

Before we install a structural patch liner we have to prepare the sleeving. Our technicians start by applying a special resin property to the felt sleeve which contains an active catalyst that the liner is impregnated with before installation. Structural Soft Felt Lining

Although all of our engineers carry manholes keys, sometimes covers can be rusted/stuck in place and cannot be lifted without causing damage. In these cases we recommend that the manhole cover is broken out and replaced as in the event of an emergency blockage, the engineers would have difficulty without full access. #Drains #Drainage drain-smart.co.uk

When we refer to a 'homemade branch connection' in our reports we mean that the connection is not a preformed cast branch but has been made by simply breaking open the existing pipework and adjoining the connecting drain by means of a cement joint. Structural Patch Lining is a method of drain repair that seals leaking pipework to a watertight condition. The structural patch liners come in pre-cut lengths and are positioned in the drain to cover specific defects

It is important to make sure that all manholes on your property are accessible as in the event of an emergency blockage the engineer would have difficulty without full access.

Although it seems like an excavation would be needed to repair this drain, a less invasive method of rerounding could be used. Even if the pipework is severely deformed reducing the bore to less than 50% of its original size our specialist equipment can be used to return the pipe to a circular shape

We carried out a survey at this property & found that there was a fractured rest bend which was allowing water to escape into the surrounding ground. The customer called us back to rectify the issue & once we were done you couldn't tell we were ever there!

Luckily our engineers have the necessary training and equipment to work in confined spaces and as a plus they arent scared of it either!

Bet you didn't think that drainage could cause this! This underground car park did not have a system in place to cope with high rainfall leaving it underwater. We installed an anti-flood valve to stop this happening again whilst we work on a plan on how to better the system.

Another unusual sight for our engineers as they found half a pair of scissors stuck in this customers drain. We returned the following day, utilised our specialist machinery to remove them.
