The problem... previous contractors did not fit adequate drainage to the soakaway, causing the water to run underneath the block paving, washing away the sub-base and causing the block paving to collapse. The hole in the foundation would have continued to get bigger with more erosion and could have caused structural problems to the garage aswell if not treated. Forty42 resolved the problem by re-routing the drainage by linking it to the existing house soakaway and rebuilt the sub-layer with hardcore - concrete - then sharp sand for the block paving to be laid upon.

Over the Christmas holidays, we have been hard at work, varnishing the floors and fully decorating the interior. The next steps for this project is the installation of the bespoke oak bifolds, which we are excited to show you. 

GARAGE CONVERSION

We have worked hard last week to install this blue kitchen, with marble splashback. An oak worktop was chosen to compliment the wooden floor and oak beams.  Over the next couple of weeks, we have the electricians and plumbers going in. The second fix joinery includes sliding doors to be fitted to create some additional storage space. Then finally, all the floors and oak trims will be varnished for protection.

Ongoing project, we removed all the mould and dirt from the oak beam and oiled them to prevent further damage from mould and UV rays that cause discolouration.  We have insulated and plaster-boarded the ceilings and stud walls while adding two electrical Velux with electrical blinds.  The next step is the shaker style kitchen and solid oak flooring

A previous garage conversion project. This garage will soon be fully insulated followed by further additions of a brand new kitchen and storage space. The original exposed wood beams will remain alongside brand new sky lights.

We are excited to announce that Forty42 Developments created a new studio space in Reading for an all upcoming music artist. We started off by completely gutting out a commercial unit and carefully considered how the space could be used as a recording studio.  We soundproofed the walls at the client's request. Then plastered the new walls and lay wood flooring and carpet to remove the existing industrial floor. This was to create a contemporary and usable space. Finally, we decorated and finished the whole unit.

Louis and his team have done a great job with my downstairs bathroom and hall extension.  Nothing was too much trouble and Louis communicated well with me throughout, dealing with the occasional problem that can crop up in a house of this age in a knowledgeable and imaginative way.  The end result is a credit to the professional and conscientious team that Louis heads up.  I would have no hesitation recommending Forty42 Developments and indeed I would be more than happy to use them again if the need should arise.

We used Forty42 for an extensive and high specification renovation with structural changes.  Louis oversaw the entire project and delivered an exceptional outcome, working to a tight timetable and agreed budget.  This was our first renovation and we felt in safe hands with Forty42 who calmly steered us through the process.  Very impressed by the team’s high quality workmanship, attention to detail and hard work.  Communication skills and a positive and creative approach to problem solving were also huge positives.   Louis and his team are professional, courteous and a pleasure to work with.

Extensive renovation with structural changes

Seemed good at the start.  They blew my trip switches in the house twice and denied having anything to do with it - strange that the hole through the wall they had just drilled was through a power cable.  This happened a few times and I was asked to prove it was them.  It was on both occasions.  The front cavity wall they built had no insulation in the wall cavity like you normally see now days, I was told it was normal.  The room is as cold as the conservatory which is all glass.  I found a gap in the wall and it was pouring in cold air.  I emailed Louis and received a pointless reply.  Not Happy

Window installed in an exterior wall by Forty42 developments.  Great service and work, really happy with the final product.  All of the guys were very friendly and professional.  Would highly recommend for any future building work.
