Practical LED Down lighting surrounds one of our own custom LED feature light creations, the colours can be changed via remote or phone to suit the required ambience.  In the background "daylight" LED panels illuminate the kitchen along with custom under cupboard and plinth lights.

Modern bathroom

part of a project carried out in a solicitors office to reduce ongoing maintenance and running costs. They also benefited from a increase in light and a much more modern appearance.  

LED panel light upgrade

One of our most popular requests is LED upgrades. The old halogen down light above needed constant maintenance to keep them all running, the new LEDs below have reduced maintenance to zero and cut running costs by a massive 83%. As well as being notably brighter , notice the lack of spotting on the floor area and strong light cones on the units to the left, these are all thanks the the LEDs superior spread.

The original lighting hasnt been moved or added too, this transformation is purely down to LEDs superior light output and spread and took just a couple of hours to complete. the customer now enjoys 83% less running costs as well as zero ongoing maintenance costs.

Various Jobs

By far the worst install I've ever come across. There are simply too many issues to even mention here, but even an untrained eye should be able to tell that this isn't right. For a start cables need to be run in straight lines parallel with outlets and appropriately protected. please be super careful when you allow even reputable kitchen suppliers control over your electrics, jobs are given to the cheapest bidder regardless of qualifications, ability or quality. luckily i stumbled across this before it was buried in the walls and was able to inform the customer who was away before they continued any further.

Metal capping is used to protect buried cabling before plaster is applied. This kitchen installer decided he couldn't be bothered to do the whole drop and his rough cut metal work was cutting into and damaging the live cabling.

and finally the "piest de resistance" these unprotected and joined cables were found just in time before they were buried, and yes that is actual tin foil that they've used to cover the cable blocks with!!! I know regulations may not be quite as strict in Poland but physics is universal, and these live foil balls are the most shocking thing I've found to date.

someone drilled the extractor fan hole in the wrong place in this kitchen, so he just decided to come out the side of the chimney instead

Dangerous? not really, stupid and unreliable, absolutely.

an un-maintained and overloaded installation can lead to complete cable breakdown and failure. regular checkups would've saved this customer from a costly rewire.

These old steel back boxes didn't have any screw tabs for modern switches, so the previous installer wedged in off-cuts of wood to screw into! fire risk anyone?

this guy hadn't even used any connectors! this was also right by the loft hatch right where you instinctively put your hands to pull yourself up, ouch!

This halogen downlight almost caused a fire due to its proximity with the floorboards above.

a 4cm void (1 of which was charred wood!) was all the room available for a light which the manufacturer specified a miniumum of 10 for.  They were later replaced by low profile and cool running LED alternatives.

The ceiling void was so small that they'd removed the cover from the lighting transformer and opted for electrical tape instead!

non IP rated (waterproof) light held in with grout, hole in side of fan case, exposed electrical wiring, fan that vents straight into the loft space and its all finished off with a tiled ceiling and layers of filth

the previous "electrician" couldn't get the boxes behind straight so gave up and stick it all on a bit of wood.  He didn't even attempt the aerial cables!

if you want to install 3 different switch plates when 1 would've done that's one thing, but that finger sized gap to the electrics behind has got to go

This molten mass of cables behind is light fitting is a prime example of why we dont leave these types of connectors loosly done up and hidden unchecked for years in the ceiling.

These original cables had been left unchecked for years, the heat behind this light fitting had completely broken down their protective insulation and a dire situation was surely dangerously close

Degraded cabling

All cabling should run horizontally or vertically inline with electrical accessories. This "electrician" obviously wasn't at college that day, and presumeably he also missed the bit about not installing cables through sharp metal holes and not installing cables unprotected in plaster work.

Nick did an awesome job with a rewire of a legacy UFH wireless system setting up a number of  thermostats and then also replacing a legacy Honeywell system for upstairs heating and hot water control. Everything was linked to an RF hub to allow complete control of all heating and hot water remotely  via an app rather than physically via thermostats. He then changed out a tricky 3 switch lighting  solution on 2 floors which had been left in a suboptimal way by a previous electrician. Nick also looked at garden lighting that previously had been shorting out the house which he didn’t charge for.

We've used Nick frequently for all of our electrical issues and he has always been extremely polite, tidy, effective and helpful. He gives genuinely independent advice (not just telling you what you want to hear) and helps to ensure that you make good decisions. We used him most recently to install a new Sky Glass TV on a brick wall where the power needed re-directing and chasing into the wall. He was incredibly tidy, quick and great value for money. He also helped install some Hue downlights which again he did very quickly and without making a mess. Couldn't be happier would highly recommend!
