A previous "company" had installed land drains just 2" (50mm) below the surface !!! We installed land drains of our own design, 2-3' (600 - 900mm) below the surface; just above the water level at the outlet.. Upon excavating the various trenches, we discovered that the previous "company" had turfed directly onto the solid clay beneath, instead of removing the clay and putting down a minimum of 6" of top soil... We also discovered that a lot of the turf had been laid straight onto 10mm pea shingle, almost 600mm deep; with the previous "company's" land drains on top of this shingle.. In places the turf was under 2" thick !!! Once complete we rotavated the top layer and laid new top soil, ready for new turf installation.

We had to remove a failed interceptor trap in this IC. The inlet was badly displaced, causing repeat blockages. Replaced with a pipe-through, then re-instated the benching.

This was a simple job to repair the failed benching surrounding this gully. We removed the old broken cement, sealed and then replaced  with  waterproofed  cement. benching.

This property had a “system” of four water butts taking the Surface Water from the lean-to extension’s roof. We removed the main water butt and excavated down to the combined FW / SW drains beneath. We then installed a new roddable bottle gully to take the new RWP (downpipe). Re-instated the crazy paving as found.

This property also had an uneven patio, causing water to pool. There was no drainage for Surface Water. We lifted the entire patio, re-laid the sub layer, and installed Aco gullies. We re-instated the patio, excavated the entire lawn, rotavated and laid new top soil ready for turfing; at the owner's request.

We had to excavate and replace failed VC pipe with new uPVC. The VC pipe had broken and fallen apart, eroding the sub soil underground. Luckily it hadn’t affected the property. Re-instated the surfaces and installed new benching around a gully.

This property had bad sewer-like smells in an office. Once the box section was removed, we found the SVP within was causing these smells. A CCTV survey from outside confirmed that the 90º rest bend at the base of the SVP had dropped, as well as broken on the top socket (where uPVC had been connected to the old VC below), causing the smells. Once excavating, we discovered that the concrete floor had been strengthened with chicken wire! There was also a void beneath, caused by damp ingress. We installed new uPVC and re-instated the concrete floor.

We had to excavate within the Inspection Chamber to remove this Interceptor trap, that kept causing repeat blockages. Piped through the old VC, and re-instated the cement benching with new waterproofed cement.

We had two jobs to do at this property : Replacement of a failed V.C. gully which had broken apart completely at the base. We replaced it with a new roddable uPVC bottle gully. The second job was to replace a failed cast iron I.C. cover and frame. Re-instated all surfaces as found.

A previous "company" had installed land drains 2" below the surface !!! We installed land drains of our own design, just above the water level at the outlet.. We had to excavate and replace a failed 4” VC pipe with a new uPVC installation, to rectify a 2m “belly” (adverse fall) in the existing pipe. This was causing repeat blockages. It had been installed poorly to begin with, as well as the connection from the uPVC SVP to the old VC pipe below was "wonky"; and had a hole in, causing damp ingress underground. This property had issues with the block paving, which caused Surface Water to pool against the house. We installed Aco gullies to the existing combined drains, via a 'P' trap.

This job was to excavate and replace 16m of failed 4" Vitrified Clay pipe with a new uPVC installation, including two failed gullies; as well as installing two new gullies to take two new RWP connections (the existing drains were combined). A total of four new uPVC roddable bottle gullies. Re-instated multiple surfaces and installed the new RWP’s.

This patio had to be re-laid and the sub-base renewed. It was uneven, causing water to pool in many places. We installed Aco gullies to take the Surface Water. The patio fall had to be towards the property, as the garden was two brick courses higher than the vent bricks... Raised 2 x IC covers. Cement haunching at the edge of the pavers.

There were major issues with water-logged soil beneath half of the lawn at this new-build property. Upon excavating we discovered an old solid concrete  road (?) underneath the lawn (!). The only option was to install a French Drain, connected to an existing SW system (Catchpit), leading off-site to a large Soakaway.

We pressure washed years of dirt / grime from all pavers at this property. It clearly made a massive difference. Cleared Aco gullies of all debris.

This property had issues with 3 x RWP’s that exited to ground, causing damp issues. We installed a new 100mm uPVC installation, consisting of 3 x roddable bottle gullies, which we then connected to existing combined drains (confirmed with CCTV and Southern Water) at the rear of the property.

A CCTV Survey revealed a broken section of 4” Vitrified Clay pipe beneath this property. It had been connected poorly to an internal uPVC installation. We excavated under the propery, removed the failed VC pipe and re-instated with new uPVC pipe. Sealed the connection and re-instated the surface as found.

This property had issues with water pooling in the middle of the patio when it rained. We installed a roddable bottle gully at the lowest point and joined it to the existing combined drains.  Re-instated the surface as found. No further issues with flooding.

We originally visited this property to attempt to clear the blocked “drain” leading to a Soakaway, that flooded every time it rained. We discovered that it was where a RWP (downpipe) from the gutters above had been previously relocated, and a simple 2” channel was dug to the hole that was left. This was to take the groundwater, as it was the lowest point between the houses. We excavated and installed a roddable bottle gully, after clearing the pipe leading to the Soakaway (flow test successful). Re-instated the surface as found. No further issues since.

This customer was putting a new floor in a lean-to and required the existing IC cover to be raised to the new floor level. We repaired the existing IC and installed an internal recessed screed tray, to match the new flooring (once laid).

This property had a broken Cast Iron cover and frame on the drive. We replaced it with a 10T Galvanised equivalent. Upon removal of the old cast iron frame, we discovered it was sitting only on loose roof tiles!

Excavation to remove and replace 29 metres of failed 6" Pitch Fibre pipe. This pipe had blistered and deformed so badly, that the HPW Jetting 1/2" nozzle was barely able to fit through in places.. A previous company had lined the pipe in this failed condition. A part of this liner is visible in the pictures. The ONLY option was to excavate and replace with new 160mm uPVC. Re-instated a dropped junction, as well as rectifying a 4 metre long belly in the pipe too.. We had to replace 20m of sunken pathways, that we discovered a void underneath the majority. Four weeks later and all done; all surfaces re-instated.

This property had no drainage for Surface Water at the rear corner of a new extension. The RWP exited onto the ground, causing potential damp issues. With the approval of Building Control, we installed a new Gully to Soakaway system.

Pukka Drains can install both localised Patch Liners and Epoxy Resin Drain Liners. This property required four 100mm Patch Liners to rectify displaced and open joints in four separate locations, which had been causing water ingress to the property. Like an Epoxy Resin Drain Liner, a localised Patch Liner also provides a completely smooth finish, eliminating any lips / steps from displaced and failed joints. Unlike an Epoxy Resin Drain Liner however, a Patch Liner can be installed at a specific place in a pipe, which is perfect for a blind run, or a line that has access from only one place.

There was 22m of failed 4” Pitch Fibre pipe here, that we replaced with new uPVC. You can see in the pictures how far gone the PF was.. It was severely compressed < 2" / deformed, causing adverse fall on 9m of the run (with a belly in the pipe in multiple places); to the point the pipes were completely blocked. New uPVC surrounded with 10mm pea shingle to Building Regulations, with the joints all cemented to prevent subsidence. Rocker joints within 600mm of Inspection Chambers (Building regs.). All benching re-instated (waterproofed cement).

We installed 12m of Aco gullys to prevent flooding during heavy rain at this property in Ashurst, to the customer's specification. We connected the outlets of the Acos to the private drains at the property, which flowed to a Septic tank with a Surface Water outlet to a drainage ditch.

This customer was in the process of selling their property, and the surveyor had requested a CCTV Survey to assess the condition of the old Vitrified Clay drains. A previous company had quoted a small fortune to install many Patch Liners, more than half of which were not required at all... After HPW Jetting (to remove all scale), we installed three Patch Liners.

At this property in Small Dole, our job was to modify the front of the property, to install disabled access ramps and extend the path, as well as installing new drainage for a future bathroom.

We installed two 4" Epoxy Resin Drain Liners at this job, to rectify multiple failed Vitrified Clay joints and fractures. Once set, the liners provide a completely smooth finish, eliminating any lips / steps from displaced and failed joints. We lined up to the WC (90º Rest bend) using a Flexi Inversion liner. New benching in the IC, as well as to repair the old, which had cracked causing water ingress to the property. Flow tests successful.

After previously sorting the drainage issues at this property, we returned to clean the many years of filth and algae from the pavers. We also removed all algae from the walls and render.

This property had major issues, with the existing rear patio sloping towards the property. Every time it rained a pool of water would cover the back garden, causing damp issues within the property. We removed the old patio and re-installed and enlarged the patio area with new pavers, as well as installing Aco gullys to take the Surface Water to the existing Aco's / SW main on the road.

After a full de-scale with HPW Jetting, we CIPP lined two sections (14m) of 100mm (4”) Vitrified Clay pipe at this property in Worthing, where nearly every single joint was badly displaced, causing adverse fall / repeat blockages. We also installed a Patch Liner, as well as replacing a broken cast iron Inspection Chamber cover and frame for a 10T galvanised cover and frame.

We had to install a new 450mm uPVC Inspection Chamber into existing 4” (100mm) Vitrified Clay drains at this property, with two new connections. One for a future SVP connection and the other from a gully for a 40mm Kitchen installation. The IC installed to Building Regulations (concrete base, 20mm shingle side fill with concrete haunching to support the risers, etc). Underground pipe with 10mm pea shingle surround. Surfaces re-instated as found.

We replaced the failed old gully and soakaway in this garage compound carpark, with a new soakaway installation. This was due to consistent flooding every time it rained. Initial checks showed the original gully emptied straight down into a hardcore filled hole, which was full to the brim with silt and debris, from decades of rain and car-washing. The new soakaway installation consisted of 4 x large 65T Polypipe crates, with a geo-textile membrane and 6”+ of 20mm shingle side-fill; to Building Regulations. Re-instated the surface as found / re-inforced all concrete with rebar (the old concrete had no re-inforcement)

This job was a new Surface Water installation, to replace a collapsed gully and RWP gully that was causing water to pool up on the edge of the driveway when it rained. CCTV confirmed that the outlet pipe had collapsed. Works to install new Aco gullys and two roddable bottle gullys leading to a new Soakaway installation. The second gully was for the RWP.

CCTV of these drains showed the late 1960’s 6” Pitch Fibre pipes had failed. They were  blistered so badly in places that not even the HPW Jet would fit through... Works to  excavate and install 30m of 160mm uPVC drains to replace the failed Pitch Fibre drains, between two IC’s. Re-instated surfaces as found. 1m Patch Liner installed preceding IC2 to make good the connection. CCTV recording supplied of finished installation.

This property had a RWP downpipe from the roof exiting onto the ground, causing flooding. We installed 2 x roddable bottle gullys, to a new Soakaway, as well as a new RWP downpipe to one of the gullys. We re-instated the slate pavers as found.

The Inspection Chamber (IC) kept blocking at this property, due to an SVP being installed on an old gully connection, which was too high in the IC. We installed a new connection at the correct invert level and modified the benching to prevent future blockages

This property required a new connection for a new shower room being installed at the side of the property. This involved lifting the crazy paving to excavate and install the new 110mm uPVC. We re-instated the surfaces as found. We used reclaimed Vitrified Clay in the Inspection Chamber to match the existing connections, with a rocker joint preceding the IC

A CCTV Survey after HPW Jetting, revealed that this property had a Vitrifed Clay pipe in poor condition between two Inspection Chambers. You can see in the CCTV screenshots the extent of the damage. We CIPP lined this pipe - A perfect liner, providing a smooth glass-like finish. We also replaced a broken Cast Iron cover and frame for a galvanised cover, as requested. Re - cemented the benching in the IC, that had failed.

At this job in Worthing, we had to perform HPW Jetting to clear the blocked drains. After HPW J it became clear that the old Vitrified Clay Interceptor trap had failed, with a missing piece clearly visible. The trap (U-bend) had completely collapsed. We replaced it with a pipe-through, then re-instated the benching with waterproofed cement. Flow test successful.

This property required a new Inspection Chamber cover and frame. The old one was not secured at all (no cement), and the top course of bricks were just resting on soil, with no mortar at all.. Repaired the benching in the IC.

This new-build property had a small 280mm Access Chamber that had been poorly installed. A sink had been installed on the main line, with a WC on the lateral line, which caused repeat blockages (WC should have been installed on the main line). There was no concrete footing, virtually no granular surround for the connections, no haunching on the riser, and no concrete collar for the cover... It had been installed on soil, with soil backfill - NO side-fill of shingle whatsoever. The cover was 130mm below ground level too, with no cement collar / no support whatsoever. We excavated, installed a 320mm Osma chamber that was designed for this purpose, and re-installed correctly - to Building Regulations.

We had to use HPW Jetting to clear blocked Surface Water drains for this customer. We also used CCTV with a Sonde attached, to locate a buried SW Inspection Chamber with a CAT scanner.

This property in Rustington had a blocked road gully. We removed FOURTEEN buckets of silt from the bucket and then HPW Jetted the outlet, which was partially blocked with roots. CCTV confirmed that we had cleared the pipe leading to the Soakaway. Flow test successful.

We installed a new 110mm uPVC gully leading to a new Soakaway, ready for a new gutter installation at the front of this property. The old guttering had previously flowed into the neighbour's guttering and soakaway, but this had been cut off, requiring a completely new installation. Soakaway installation was just over 5m D/S from the gully, using the Polypipe crate system, with a geotex membrane surround (non-woven tanking), and a 25mm shingle side fill. Concrete / pvc cap.

This property had no drainage for the new Surface Water installation at the front. The RWP exited onto the ground, causing potential damp issues. Also with the approval of Building Control, we installed new Aco gullys joining to the existing SW drains (Flow test using HPW Jetting successful). We also used CCTV to confirm the existing Soakaway was in good condition.

This job was to install two new SVP's to take new WC / bathroom conversions at this property. The new SVP at the side of the property was in black 110mm uPVC, and the new SVP at the front of the property was in white 110mm uPVC, and had to go through the roof of the porch. This also involved excavating the ground within the porch. Both SVP's joined underground into the existing Foul drains. The new installation at the front joined into an existing Inspection Chamber and the new installation at the side joined on a blind junction, however, access for both lines was installed on the SVP's themselves. Quite a bit of work, the weather was not great at times, but a job well done.

We installed a new FW internal Inspection Chamber at this property, for a new kitchen and shower room, with three grey-water connections (no sewage). A traditional design consisting of twin-wall bricks, with a double-sealed galvanised recessed cover. The new pipe within the chamber done in Vitrified Clay. Waterproofed cement benching. Rocker joints fitted within 150mm of the outer chamber wall, along with all external pipes surrounded with 10mm Pea Shingle to building regulations and supported with cement in the vital places... Proper old-fashioned craftsmanship. Left ready for surrounding new flooring / underfloor heating to be installed.

This Inspection Chamber kept blocking due to a failed Interceptor trap and a rodent infestation from the neighbouring property causing debris to fall into the trap.. After pest control had visited, we performed works to remove the failed Interceptor trap and replace with a straight section of pipe, as well as make good all the damage to the benching.

This job in Lancing was to make four new connections for new uPVC SVP’s, to existing drains. After performing a full CCTV Camera Survey of all the drains on site (HPW Jetting as required), we were given the go-ahead for the new installations - connecting under the floor of the existing building.

At this job in Steyning we replaced a failed line from a WC that had caused years of damp ingress, and installed an Access Chamber outside, as the only existing IC was under the conservatory. Re-instated surfaces as found (and levelled out the old patio!)

This property in Hove had major issues with a Victorian-age gully buried under the bathroom floor in the basement.. Twice it had blocked causing raw sewage to flood everywhere.. Excavated and installed a solution to eliminate future blockages (only grey water flowing into this, WC is on a separate line), as well as a new 40mm installation to rectify adverse fall in several places.

This job in Hove was to replace two failed Vitrified Clay gullys, due to damp ingress for many years into the basement property. This was caused by failed Vitrified Clay joints, as well as failed benching around the old VC gullys. The old concrete surface was also literally only 1/2” thick.. Fixed a leaking joint on a 1st floor RWP.

We installed three roddable bottle gullys, flowing to two Soakaways (one overflow), to take RWP's serving the front of this victorian cottage. All the original RWP's from the existing gutters emptied to ground, which had caused horrific damp issues internally... New gully installation at the back of the property too, to replace a failed one. The gully surrounds were done with reclaimed victorian bricks from an old well.

We arrived at this property to unblock the kitchen sink and discovered that the outlet of the trap (grey on the left) was a “Euro” 36mm installation, and sloped 8º upwards (adverse fall) to the outlet through the wall almost 300mm higher than the trap !! The existing outlet was within the wall cavity.. We drilled a new hole through the wall, sleeved the pipe and installed the outlet of the trap directly through the wall, with a new connection to the external gully, all in 40mm pipe. This property had a blocked 68mm uPVC RWP downpipe. We excavated and found that the “cowboy” builders had installed the 68mm pipe underground (not allowed), and had cut through the original VC pipe when a new WC was installed. They had just left it like that, causing water ingress under the property for years, every time it rained.. New uPVC joined to the VC pipe (leading to the Surface Water main - confirmed), with a flow test successful. Re-instated the surface as found.

This customer wanted the old Cast Iron Inspection Chamber cover and frame replaced for a recessed Galvanised cover and frame, as they had plans to put a weed-proof layer down and then slate covering, to match the rest of the border. They wanted to be able to fill the cover with slate as well, to match the surface.

This property had a blocked Interceptor trap, with shingle from previous building works. CCTV revealed that a pipe had been cut and not capped, when an extension had been built. This caused shingle to fill the drains for some time.. Removed and rectified. Re-instated the surface and benching in the IC (waterproofed).

This RWP was blocked where it joined underground, in the pipe leading to a Soakaway. Unfortunately HPW Jetting was not an option, due to the location, so we cleared it mechanically using a Cable Machine. A lot of silt and mud came out as you can see! Flow test successful.

The blockage at this property was caused by a root intrusion from a previously added new connection, which had not been installed correctly. The benching had not been re-instated, causing root ingress into the IC. We removed all roots and used HPW Jetting to clear the drains.

This job was for a pre-purchase CCTV Survey of all drains at this property. Quite often CCTV Surveys involve trying to find and uncover buried Manholes. These usually haven’t been opened for many years and are often hidden beneath overgrown bushes, trees, etc. On the other hand, you get old internal covers which again, haven’t been opened in many years, and the bolts that are holding them down are completely rusted / seized.. When using a camera by yourself, quite often we have to use a “guide pipe” to be able to survey a deeper manhole

This job was during the recent floods. The customer had blocked drains, made worse by the flooded road water pouring into their IC preceding the Main FW sewer on the road.. After HPW Jetting, we discovered that drain rods were blocking the drains.. Retrieved and disenfected!

The 40mm waste pipe from a Utility Room at this property had been installed into Surface Water drains, leading to a Soakaway. This meant that for 14 years since the property was built, the grey water from Washing Machines had been flowing into the Soakaway (meant for Surface Water). CCTV confirmed this. We installed a new connection to the existing FW drains, with a gully to take the waste from the Utility Room.

This property had a disused connection in an Inspection Chamber, where a pond had been installed and cut through an old disused drain. It hadn’t been capped properly, and had soil ingress from above, as well as rodents entering the  IC. HPW Jet to clear, then capped.

We had to replace a failed Inspection Chamber cover and frame at this job. The customer wanted the broken cast iron cover replaced with a 10T galvanised cover, with tarmac to match the existing surface.

The Surface Water drains here were blocked.  We cut an access window in the old Vitrified Clay pipe flowing from the RWP, and found that it was full of roots. We excavated to replace the pipe with new 110mm uPVC pipe, with a Bottle Gully for future ease of access. We found an internal  68mm pipe had been forced into the old 4” VC underground.. We arrived at this property in Thakeham to clear the drains using HPW Jetting. We replaced an Inspection Chamber rotten cover and frame at the customer’s request. Replaced with a re-claimed Cast Iron cover and frame, to match the other IC covers at the property.

We had to clear three blocked RWP outlets (one gully) at this property. All were full of silt from years of neglect. We cleared mechanically, then used HPW Jetting with a 1/4” mini kit to clear all silt from the old VC lines. Flow tests successful.

The drains at this property were blocked by a 4” plunger head and 100 years worth of scale build-up. HPW jetting using a plough jet, to fully de-scale the old Vitrified Clay lines. The Interceptor trap in the Inspection Chamber preceding the shared sewer had failed, with visible fractures - excavation required.

This carpark had three gullys that required clearing. One gully was completely blocked solid, not just in the trap, but the whole 16m line to the Soakaway was blocked solid with silt too. HPW Jetting used to clear. Removed all silt from all gullys and cleared down the overflow. Flow tests successful.

On arrival at this property in Brighton, all drains were blocked and overflowing. It appeared that it might be a shared issue, however it turned out that there was a hidden Inspection Chamber under the decking with a blocked interceptor trap... After lifting the decking where we thought the IC might be, we discovered a concrete slab covering an IC, which was full to the brim. It took some time to break the solid “waste” down and clear the IC fully. Flow tests successful. Cleaned and disenfected the whole area.

Neglected gullys lead to blockages, especially at this time of year. A blocked gully will overflow.. To rectify this, Pukka Drains remove all debris from the gully and use HPW Jetting to clear all silt from the affected line. This will make the gully flow as if it were new..

This property kept getting blockages in this Inspection Chamber. This was due to the bad design of the joining lateral connections. The benching had also failed in multiple places, causing water ingress to the property, as well as creating a void under the path adjacent to the IC. After excavating, we installed new VC pipe connections and re-instated the benching. Problems solved.

We installed a new uPVC gully connection into an existing Vitrified Clay drain at this property, to take the new washing machine waste pipe from the garage. The VC pipe was encased in concrete, so had to carefully chip away the concrete before cutting the old pipe to connect the new.. Installation of 43mm uPVC pipe through the garage wall to the Gully. Re-instated the surface as found, keeping the expansion gap the same.

Neglected gullys will block up and overflow. Leading up to winter is a good time to have your drains cleared using HPW Jetting. Both Foul (Sewage) drains and Surface Water (Rain) drains can benefit from this, we remove all silt / scale from the drains and flow test to make sure everything is running ok. We will use CCTV if necessary to determine the condition of the pipe once clear, especially if there is a repeat blockage or issue.

We had to clear a blocked RWP at this property. There was no access to the RWP, so after cutting an access hole in the old Cast Iron pipe, we used HPW Jetting to clear the completely blocked pipe. Flow test successful. Sealed the RWP with a rubber coupler.

This new-build property had a small 300mm Access Chamber that had been poorly installed. There was no concrete footing, no haunching on the riser, and no concrete collar for the cover... It had been installed on soil, with soil backfill - NO shingle whatsoever. It had sunk causing adverse fall, causing sewage to collect in the chamber and not flow away... We excavated, levelled it out, and re-installed correctly.

The round 450mm IC1 had been badly installed and was leaning over causing adverse fall on the outlet. We excavated and found it had been put on soil, with no footing, no shingle, no haunching whatsoever, so completely against building regulations.. We installed it correctly. Then we used Drain Lining to rectify multiple displaced / fractured joints. Repaired the benching in IC2. Job done

This job was to excavate to find an old access chamber buried under a patio, and to cap two disused lines, as agreed by Southern Water. The top line was from a previously capped and removed Vent Pipe (installed originally before the invention of SVP's) and the bottom line had originally served a WC that had also been removed. Nylon test bungs fitted to prevent the ingress of Surface Water, and then cement cap. Rapid set cement and waterproofer used. Re-instated surface as found, as well as levelling out the patio.

At this pub, they had problems with blocked WC’s. HPW Jetting brought out a 4” plunger head that a previous Drainage company had got stuck in the main SVP.. We de-scaled all of the drains inside and out / full flush-through. Cleared all internal pipework with cable machines. Cleared all traps. Flow tests successful.

This job in Ferring was two jobs - 1) to replace a failed VC gully. A later SVP had been installed and the outlet of the gully had been raised, causing adverse fall (by almost 2 inches) and the VC pipe to fail. Replaced with new 110mm uPVC. 2) to replace a failed IC cover, which was buried and bent under the driveway shingle. Replaced with a new 12T galvanised recessed cover, and made to match the existing surface.

The connection from the uPVC SVP to the VC (Vitrified Clay) rest bend below was non-existent - where the Cast Iron SVP was replaced previously with uPVC, the connection was not made; the uPVC pipe was about one inch away from the VC below, causing years-worth of sewage / foul water to flow under the house, causing a void beneath (pictures taken). No issues found with VC pipe below ground. New 110mm uPVC installation from base of SVP (at ground level) to VC rest bend below, (correct AC4000 coupler used to join uPVC to VC). Re-instated surface.

The drains were partially blocked at this commercial property - water was getting through but no solids. A quick look with CCTV revealed a mass of paper, so HPW Jetting to clear and then another look with CCTV showed a toilet rim-block freshener stuck in the pipe..
