Redecorating a very tired Norfolk Dining Room

Remove delaminated vinyl wrap remove glue residue

Protecting, Preparation & Painting

The paint was always flaking & peeling so a natural waxed was requested 

The newel caps in most homes can suffer from friction peeling….
Its always best to remove the paint

Incredibly messy & very hard work to remove old paint - mess was vacuumed up as each section was stripped 

The sealed & waxed wood can age naturally without ever suffering from peeling paint again 

When a home is over 300 years old - keeping centuries of charm and character is always the way 

Existing digs & dents where requested to stay to keep the character of this very old property 

It was a relief when all the  stripping paint part was completely finished & finish coats of paint applied

From dull grey/blue to fresh new bright white

Old hat & coat hooks where removed & holes repaired…
But perfectly smooth walls was not required on this 1700s home

Was lovely to get the painting completed 

Natural waxed wood made this stairs lighter & brighter

Badly peeling paint is now long gone & the new look is a transformation - handles & hinges where refinished by client whose is a metal refinisher

Heated towel rail removed & re fitted after decorating

The shower room ceiling & inner frame was added to my work list

Modern yet timeless shower room….. special repairs to ceiling & mould resistant paint applied

This modern glass door was installed by clients & transformed it

Old yellowed paint transformed into fresh white Satinwood 

Scrub resistant paint was used on walls & ceilings to enable it to stay looking good for  years!

Much lighter now & gives a feeling of more space

So much more light & the waxed wood transformed this stairs 

Additional work was added I refinished the door and frame inside bathroom - client refinished hinges
Architrave was then re fitted

Such a wonderful space this loo transformation was completed after my part which was the painting - this was also an added job after i started

The time & effort that went into this door & frame to remove the peeling paint - physically exhausting but rewarding 

When paint is peeling it has to be removed - after removing dust sheet from sink unit its time to vacuum up this mess

Peeling paint gone! Now machine sanding to remove years of bad painting 

Additional work requested - to decorate inner sides of doors that open into hallway 

Putting the preparation in will give a lasting job

Sometimes you have to create a huge mess to move the job forward

Bad painting by previous owners creates problems down the line 

Additional work: door stops removed by client in readiness for the new glass door they where installing themselves

Its always good get the paint out after such a lot of preparation 

After a huge amount of preparation, cleaning & mould treatment a special primer was applied then 4 coats of mould resistant paint applied 

Bespoke labeled containers make easy access simple & no rusty tins!

Deep rot repairs with Repair Care Resin (yellow)

Complete removal of existing paint on window sill

Remove paint from glazing bars that was flaking off

White Mould resistant paint applied to walls & ceiling

300+ year old home given a new lease of life

This is a common occurrence the edges are so sharp & dangerous

Sometimes the “Foil Wrap”

Once the “Foil Wrap” is off a gentle rub down & its ready to prime 

The hard work is complete now for too coats

Why replace front door when the door can be re finished!

Faded GRP Front Door Refinished

This old kitchen was repurposed as a dividing wall was removed so layout changed

Its important to number every hinge door & draw front 

The kitchen doors need thorough cleaning & degreasing to remove years of grime & airborne-grease

The most important part of a kitchen cabinet repaint is the cleaning 

Thorough degreasing plus used scouring pads & stiff scrubbing brushes to get into corners & crevice’s 

Marking doors inside hinge cut out - add masking tape on top of markings

You cant have this level of work done without a few weeks of disruption 
But it is worth it in the long run!

Masking glass ensures no scratches or paint on them

Its always best to empty cupboards - however sometimes its not practical due to space to temporarily house everything

Wayne de Wet is the most experienced, informative and knowledgeable guy when it comes to interior decorating and design. Wayne did work for me years ago and I was over the moon with the result so I managed to find him again and he recently  transformed my living room. We talked through what was needed and how he was going to do it so I knew exactly what the job entailed. He also gave me a lot of advice on aftercare with the paintwork.
Wayne is happy in his work and it shows in the results.
A lovely family man and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with a paintbrush!

First class Decorator

Work carried out: Wash & clean two pairs of very large Oak GRP garage doors; scrape off the badly peeling & mouldy painted concrete lintel above and re-paint. Wayne worked meticulously and transformed the garage doors. They now look as good as new. An excellent job done once again. Highly recommend.

Renovation of garage doors

To my dismay, the panels and doors in the bathroom were delaminating.
I contacted Wayne who advised me these could be repainted when all the laminate had been removed. 
This was agreed.
He has just returned  them, they look brilliant.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Wayne, as I have done several times to friends and family.
His work is first class, he is meticulous, extremely knowledgable about all aspects of his trade and more, always ready to advise.
He’s been my decorator for over 15years and I wouldn’t have anyone else.

Repainting delaminating doors and panels

When we explained to Wayne de Wet that our shower cubicle tray needed re-grouting he clearly explained how he would remove all the grouting and replace with quadrant. This would alleviate the need to replace our old grouting every year or so. Not only was the quadrant installed but Wayne also suggested installing it in the corners thereby making the shower unit looking nice and clean. We just need to Karcher the walls and wipe the edges and corners after every shower. Excellent suggestion. Work carried out to his usual high standard. Wayne even finished some smaller jobs around the house.
