  Focussed on solving a problem not just doing a job

  Jonathan helped me out a few years ago with a mouse problem. This was a new one- seagulls nesting behind a chimney stack. I’d previously had a roofer stick some spikes up and these were ineffective. Jonathan was helpful and focused on solving the problem- not just charging a fee for a job. He did a thorough job installing a wire cage to block this area off. Comms were great before during and after the job. I wish I’d asked him first time round! Thanks again so much- hopefully I won’t need you for a while but I know who to call…

  Internal decoration.

  This was repeat business having used Richard previously to do both internal and external work. As usual, his meticulous attention to detail and preparation in making good the various cracks and defects in our Victorian house made for a fantastic end result. He takes time to do the job properly and he's a pleasure to have around. I'm sure he knows he'll be my first port of call next time round.

  Cellar conversion.

  From the planning stage right through to the end of the project it was clear to us that Richard and his team know their stuff. We had several site visits from different trades to assess the job and plan what was needed. This was in contrast to other firms who had given us quotes and who didn't seem to know about the building regulations and technical issues that apply to this sort of project. Once the job started Richard was always on hand to check on any details and re-assure us when any potential problems cropped up. We have an old Victorian property and inevitably there were a few unforeseen issues but that's all they were. Richard's 'can do' attitude ensured that they never became problems. Despite the inevitable mess and disruption, the lads were a pleasure to have in our home, always smiling and they did their best to tidy up and clean after each day's work. Richard was keen to ensure we were happy with the job, he was attentive throughout and dealt with the few snags we had afterwards without delay. He was also sensitive to the age of the house and made an effort to ensure the new blended in and complemented the old features of our home. I doubt we'll be doing anything on this scale for many years but these guys would be my first port of call. We'd have them back without any hesitation.

  Respray panel and refurbish alloys.

  An excellent high quality job. The paintwork on the wing and alloys was akin to a factory finish. It took a little longer than expected but we were kept informed. We also needed to pay cash due to problems with a card reader. This caused a little inconvenience but otherwise I can't fault the guys at excel and I'd be happy to use them again.
