Managing your Checkatrade Account

Your Checkatrade account lets you manage everything from your profile photos and contact details to your work areas, insurance, and accreditations. This guide explains how to edit your information, update key documents, polish your profile, and keep your account in good standing.
Here's all you need to know about managing your Checkatrade account:
Adding & Editing Photos
Strong photos help customers see the quality of your work and make your profile stand out.
Add new albums
Open the Checkatrade for Trades App or Members Area.
Go to Photos & Albums.
Select Create New Album.
Add a name and description (tip: group albums by type of job or service).
Tap Create Album to save.
Add photos or video
Tap Add Photos to upload from your device.
Tap Add YouTube Video to paste a URL.
Edit albums
Open Photos & Albums.
Tap the three dots (⋯).
Choose Edit Details or Change Order.
Edit a photo
You can:
Tag as before, during, or after
Add a caption
Rotate
Move it to another album
Delete it
Quick photo tips:
Use clear lighting, tidy backgrounds, and real images of your own work. Before/after shots and team photos help build trust fast.
Updating Your Work Areas
If your coverage areas change, update them anytime:
Open the Trade App or Members Area.
Go to Campaigns.
Tap the pencil icon on the campaign.
Check the work types you want leads for.
Use the map or postcode list to add/remove districts.
Tap Continue, review, and then Confirm.
💡 Tip: If you’ve moved premises, also update your Trading & Admin Addresses in My Details.
Updating Your Public Liability Insurance (PLI)
Open the Trade App.
Tap More → Insurance.
Upload your active policy (new members) or self-certify your renewal (existing members).
Keeping your PLI up to date helps build trust and may improve your chances of receiving leads.
Updating Secure Contact Details
Account Admins can choose which number Secure Contact diverts to:
Open My Details
Select the contact number you want Secure Contact forwarded to
If the number is incorrect or missing, update it in My Details first
Updating Personal Contact Details
Account Admins can update:
Phone numbers
Email addresses
Company name
Employee contact details
If you’re not the admin, ask them to make the changes for you.
Updating Your Address
Account Admins can update Trading and Admin addresses in My Details.
When updating your Trading Address, we’ll email you requesting one of the following documents dated within the required timeframe:
Utility bill (within 3 months)
Bank/credit card statement (within 3 months)
HMRC letter (within 3 months)
Council tax bill or mooring licence (within 12 months)
Business rates (within 12 months)
In-date driving licence
Signed/dated mortgage or rental agreement
Once received, we’ll update your address.
Updating Company Contact Details
You can change your business phone number, email, or company name in My Details within the Trade App.
Support During Vetting
Still in vetting?
Upload any missing documents in the Applicant Area.
Complete your ID check via the Mitek SMS link.
Once everything is submitted, our team completes the final checks.
We’ll contact you if anything else is needed. Otherwise, you’ll receive an email when your vetting is complete.
To prepare for going live:
Write a clear, friendly profile intro
Gather reviews from past customers
Get your job photos ready to upload
Updating Your Profile Description
Your profile description shows customers who you are and what you do best.
To update it:
Open the Trade App
Go to My Profile
Tap Profile Description
Edit your text
Tap Save
Tip: Write like you speak. Be clear, confident, and specific about your skills and services.
Adding or Updating Accreditations
Open the Trade App.
Go to Accreditations.
Tap Add New Accreditation or select an existing one.
Upload your valid certificate.
Save.
If your documents expire, your profile may be hidden until updated.
Appealing a Deactivation
If you’ve been notified that your account is being deactivated or you have additional evidence to provide, please refer to the Checkatrade Deactivation Policy for guidance.
