Priced Services (also known as Book and Pay) give you a straightforward way to manage confirmed bookings — with less back-and-forth and more certainty. This guide explains how to receive bookings, send booking offers, choose how you get paid, and manage jobs from start to finish.

You can also watch the walkthrough video here for a quick overview, or read on for the full details.

Receiving Bookings

You’ll find all your bookings in My Jobs on the home screen, or within your Jobs list.

  • Look for the Direct booking label to quickly identify confirmed bookings.

  • Tap View Service to check exactly what the customer needs.

  • Use in-app chat to ask questions, confirm timings, or clarify the scope of work.

Once a booking is confirmed, you’ll see the customer’s phone number, email address, and job location.

Offering a Booking

You can send a booking offer from either:

  • The Chat screen, or

  • The Job details screen

To offer a booking:

  1. Tap Offer Booking.

  2. Enter your price.

  3. Review the Checkatrade service fee shown on screen (this varies by job value — larger jobs have a lower percentage fee).

  4. Tap the (i) icon if you want more detail on how fees work.

Heads up - Bookings aren’t leads. You can chat with customers for free — the service fee only applies once a booking is accepted.

Choosing How You Get Paid

When sending a booking offer, you’ll choose one of three payment options.

Option 1: Hold Full Amount

  • The full job value is held on the customer’s card.

  • Funds are released to you once the job is marked complete.

  • Ideal for smaller jobs or when you want maximum payment security.

Option 2: Take Part Now, Hold the Rest

  • Take an upfront amount and hold the remaining balance.

  • Useful for larger jobs or when you need to cover materials.

Option 3: Verify Card Only

  • No funds are held.

  • You’ll collect payment yourself.

  • Offers less protection but still allows in-app booking.

Using Option 1 or 2 secures the funds and gives you greater payment protection.

If you haven’t set up Checkatrade Pay, you’ll be prompted to do so. You’ll need to add:

  • Your business details

  • The bank account you want payments sent to

When everything looks right, tap Confirm and Book.

Important: Once a booking is confirmed, the job price is locked. If anything is unclear, use chat to confirm details before sending the booking.

After You Book

Once the booking offer is sent:

  • The customer receives it by email and app notification.

  • You’ll get notified when they:

    • Accept the offer

    • Pay any upfront amount

At this point, their full contact details will be visible to you.

Cancelling a Booking

If the booking isn’t confirmed yet:

  • Tap Lost and choose a reason to cancel.

If the booking is already confirmed:

  • Follow the steps in our Cancellation Guide.

Marking the Job as Complete

When the work is finished, you can mark the job as complete in two ways:

  • Tap Mark job as complete in the chat, or

  • Use the Job status dropdown on the job screen

If you used Checkatrade Pay, any remaining balance will be paid into your bank account within 24–48 working hours.
