The customer wanted the filter to be installed as to not per manufacturers instructions. This would have voided any warranty that would have come with this water filter. There was no problem with the filter itself. We cannot install a product in a way that’s it not meant to be installed. The customer was extremely rude to the plumber and the office staff, and he wouldn’t accept any implications of installing the unit may have caused. Should we have carried on installing the filter as he wanted it and then something went wrong with it in the future, we would be liable, and we are not prepared to put our name to shoddy workmanship. The plumbers we have within our company have many many years’ experience and are more than capable of carrying out this type of work.

On the initial phone call with Mr Wales and booking the appointment the homeowner was aware of the call out charge, he was also aware that if we couldn’t repair the fire on this visit then the call out charge would still stand. We have travelled from Stroud to Gloucester to attend to the faulty fire. The fire is old and not working, and although we found the ignition and the pilot assembly not to be working we could not say if more parts were needed, we advised to call out the manufacturer to repair. We found the local numbers for the home owner to call and added this detail to his invoice. I am not prepared to refund the invoice (he has paid it) due to the fact that he was fully aware of the charges regardless of the time spent at the property
