I met Alan whilst he was repairing a window at my workplace. I mentioned that my doors were not operating correctly, he said he would call around and take a look. Alan arrived at 9 am looking at my french doors then said he needed to get a drill to take al to look inside the door. I have then advised the doors were unrepairable and needed replacing. I asked him to shut the doors again and asked him how much I was looking at. He said £65.00 for today's visit. I was shocked that I had to pay £65 be told my doors we unrepairable. By the afternoon his wife was chasing for payment and extremely rude.
Response from A J Double Glazing Repairs
We would like to apologise for your recent experience. We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied with the service provided.
We pride ourselves on our service and the high quality standards we maintain.
Your French doors are very old and in a fairly poor condition. As with any French doors in order to diagnose the issue(s) it is essential to take the doors apart to investigate. This is labour intensive and AJ Double Glazing spent over 30 minutes removing the outer UPVC casing and exploring what the problem was.
AJ Double Glazing identified that to fix the issues with your doors a new multi-lock and handle would be required to be ordered and installed. You made the decision to not go ahead with the work which is absolutely fine.
AJ Double Glazing then proceeded to reverse the work undertaken by taking the French doors apart and replaced everything exactly as it was found, taking approximately another 30 minutes. As a result the £65.00 charge was incurred.
You refused to pay the bill. However, as a gesture of goodwill the charge has been waived for you.
