  Skim plaster the hallway

  Urgent job, was very quick to respond to my request. Booked in quickly and work started 3 days later. I wanted some additional work done (remove arch to the stairs, create a square finish), renegotiated the price (reasonable increase), and work was completed to a high spec.

  Making good around a bedroom skylight

  The plastering work was good, but despite telling Andy we had already decorated and would hopefully just be doing touchups with our decorator after the job was done, there were smears of top coat and plaster all across the main wall of our bedroom, which do not rub obv and we will now have to re-paint. We found plaster spattered across the opposite wall too, on our skirting board, in the curtains, in the carpet (despite asking him to cover the carpet) and even up our mattress which was leant against the opposite wall. It took us over an hour to clean the room after he left. When I raised this with him, he was incredibly defensive and even argumentative over text, and tried to point out other water stains on the carpet (which I was aware of, and of course not trying to blame Andy for) as if that justified the extra patches red plaster now drying into it. The plastering work is good but I wouldn't use him again based on his attitude and general demeanour. He was friendly-ish, but it felt like he'd rather be anywhere else except doing the job. Very disappointing.

  I’m pleased you were happy with the quality of the plastering, although I’m disappointed this isn’t reflected in your score. I was friendly and polite throughout, as reflected consistently in my other customer reviews. I had asked for the room to be cleared beforehand but had to work at 3.2m around a large bed and mattress, significantly restricting the space. The floor was covered with a large dust sheet and I explained that minor splashing could occur. The tiny splash on the carpet next to the skirting board will brush out and when dry will be the same colour as the carpet, which I explained

  Plastering and repair work

  Andy did a great job at rectifying some poor work carried out by another tradesperson. He assessed the job, offered options and worked to a high standard. There was a small scratch left on the floor which Andy repaired.
