    Super happy with the work

    I needed a contractor to refurbish my park home. I was very fortunate to find Ask Jay Handyman services. They are a two person team Jay and his wife Juliette. Even though I had to wait a month before work would start. I felt confident in my choice. From the onset Juliette was in touch with me explaining all the details of the work and pricing. Jay explained what was needed doing to achieve the job for the best price. I received the quote for all the separate areas. Juliette went way beyond and drive me about to choose wallpaper and flooring. The end result was 100% very pleased indeed

    I highly recommend Jay. He painted our garden fence to a very high standard and we're really pleased with the finished result. He was punctual, professional and a pleasure to deal with. He was efficient, careful and left everything clean and tidy. He obviously takes pride in his work. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

    Highly recommend

    We recently had our shower replaced. The shower was a bit too low. The shower was replaced with no problems at all. It required extra work with no extra cost. There was a possibility of having tiles removed. A mermaid board was suggested. I'm so pleased we went with this suggestion. It looks fantastic. I would definitely recommend Jay's business. Work always carried out to a high standard and always leaves the area clean. We've also had other work carried out that we're really happy with. We will be booking future work through this company in the future.

After completing a marine engineering apprenticeship, serving for 10 years in the Royal Navy and then 22 years within the oil and gas industry, I decided that it was time to spend more time at home with my growing family.

I have travelled the world extensively and for the last 15 or so years, I have been teaching mechanical engineering maintenance to technicians and engineers at oil & gas facilities globally.

I am accredited member of the Institution of mechanical engineers and registered with the Engineering council. I also have full public liability insurance.


In July 2020 I set up as a sole trader local handyman service named Ask Jay, with the main objective of providing a friendly, reliable, professional, and trustworthy service to people across the Isle of Wight.

My constant aim is to offer a quality service that is value for money with a personal touch.


I have built up a loyal client base with many multiple returning customers, whilst continuing to grow the business and I look forward to hearing from you.
