My Mother died, unexpectedly, at 6am on the morning that the rental stairlift was due to be fitted, I contacted the company to avoid a wasted journey. I have written to the company to express my dismay that no offer of a refund has been made in such sad circumstances.

The £500.00 was taken to cover the technical survey and cost to make the stairlift track made to measure for the customers house, due to unfortunate circumstances such as these. The order was cancelled on the day of installation when the work and preparation had already been carried out and the engineers were on their way to install the stairlift. The amount of £500.00 is to cover costs we have incurred. The customer was made aware that any cancellation would incur costs, when she signed the order form. It was advised to them again, when they signed a declaration to waiver the 14 day cooling off period on 20th September 2021, to have the stairlift installed quickly, on 24th September 2021.
We feel we have acted in good faith. We have prepared the stairlift carriage, ordered rail sections to fit the staircase for the customers house and carried out a technical survey. All of which involve costs.
Due to this we are unable to refund the deposit taken of £500.00. I realise this is not the outcome the client is expecting, however, it covers costs incurred by us to prepare the order as requested.
We do feel aggrieved that the customer has lodged a complaint, without speaking to us first and also when we have adhered to their requests.
