  To fully replace the main slate roof and leadwork to the main house and single story kitchen

  Its been 18mths my roof hasn't been completed. The work was quoted for in May 2021, There were delays due to covid for the scaffolders and for Luke Woodley the sole trader. The main roof was partially finished by mid Dec 2021. He applied insulation on Christmas eve 24th Dec2021. The scaffolding came down before the leadwork could be finished on the end of the building over the kitchen. Luke said he would finish the leadwork at the same time as the kitchen roofin Jan. He didn't and has never come back. It leaks, a new quote is £2200. I wish to claim from checkertrade for unfinished work.

  Felt, batten and tile the roof and fit velux windows

  4 week job took nearly 6 months and still not finished. Velux windows not framed properly and not to building regs. We had a raft of excuses as to why Luke didn't turn up along with periods of no contact. Deliveries that never turned up and one that did the supplier came back a month later to try to reposess for non payment after £5k deposit paid for materials. We paid deposits for two further small jobs, we cancelled these and were told 28 days for their return, they've not been returned. We've been conned out of a lot of money for a bad unfinished job

  New roof

  The completion date is approximate. I have no complaint about the work. But I have been left with a pile of rubbish in the back and front gardens, which Luke promised about a month or so to remove. It is still here. Also, 4 new dormer windows were supplied by JMF Carpentry, one of which has broken. Luke said that the windows were guaranteed for 10 years, but Jake the carpenter told me that they were not guaranteed. So I am left with pile of rubbish and a broken window.

  I am afraid once we committed, Luke suddenly turned unreliable with many delays and he has never completed the work. He said he would get back to finish but never did. Phone switched off and no reply to emails. Needless to say he never sent the promised 20 year guarantee. Now we are looking for someone else to check and finish work. Not sure we will ever get our money back.

  Re-roofing the house.

  What a disastrous experience. Courteous and competent at our first encounter, Luke proposed re-roofing the entire tired and old main roof, flat roof and lower roof, using new modern materials and offering a 25 year guarantee. Two and a half months later, I have an exposed unfinished roof with new cement cracking already, a massive pile of rubble by the house, and no end in sight. All I get are: excuses (broken car, injured leg, eye infection, too hot, too wet), and endless broken promises to come and do the job. I am starting legal procedures and I need another roofer to save my house.

  Repair storm damage to ridge

  The work was not completed. After over 4 months, all that had happened was that he took my lead away, and made endless promises and then excuses. In the process he damaged two smaller roofs with debris, and broke a gutter. I paid him over £2K in advance for materials that I have never seen. I have now served him with a breach of contract notice.
