Interior Decorating including preparation and plastering, wallpapering and painting
Steve turned up on time, was prepared and undertook all the items on my list. The work was finished in a timely fashion, to a high standard, and as per the original estimate provided.Verified reviewerJob location: SS74 Bathrooms

Part bathroom fitted - no plumbing and other obvious elements
Poor communication, lack of planning, no attention to detail and overall disappointing. Needed two sets of plumbers to be separately booked to help him and still ended up without some of the agreed items. If you are not in a hurry and have a very simple task you may be fine with this company but personally would have preferred to pay more to get a better quality and more communicative service.Verified reviewerJob location: IP25Response from Borrow My Hubby
Lines of communication kept fully open. In fact we had to oblige by rearranging jobs to suit when customer unable to organise bathroom delivery for agreed date. Whilst on job, customer shut themselves away working, or went out. This job was to install bathroom suite like for like - no planning was required. Was told to ‘stick to the CAD plan’ when installing the toilet and handbasin and that was done. Bathroom suite ordered by customer should have been checked by her not us. Items inappropriately stored in garage. At no point did we state we were a central heating engineer. As a like for like replacement one would have thought customer would replace the electric shower with electric shower. However, customer purchased thermostatic shower, didnt advise before arriving on site. If the two plumbers the customer employed to install the hot water shower feed have not been able to complete job it is nothing to do with us. Never discussed removing radiator and installing smaller towel rail in its place. Again a job that we didn’t quote for and were not expecting to do. Customer also added extra fittings onto the job not discussed and not quoted for.

Repaired broken slabs on pathway
My pathway slabs had lifted and one broken, which made the pathway to my front door very unsafe. With a SEN daughter, who requires a wheelchair I was desperate to get this repair done as soon as possible. I reached out to a few local businesses who had long waits or cost the earth. Steve could not have been more understanding, he slotted me in and done a fantastic job! Would Highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be using Steve for any future repairs.Job location: NR1810 Builder

Various internal and external works
Steve attended my property in a timely manner, was knowledgeable, quick and clean in his work. I had a list of various jobs for him including giving advice with a snagging list, decorating, curtain hanging, plumbing in of a washing machine, relevelling some patio slabs and doing some minor work including picture hanging. I have no hesitation in recommending him. A good honest old-style tradesperson. Will definately be asking him to do further works for me.Verified reviewerJob location: NR175 Builder

Relay a broken path
I do not think the work was a very good standard for how much we were charged. Will not use again.Verified reviewerJob location: IP25Response from Borrow My Hubby
Customer requested to break-up pathway & relay making safe, even, and make good around existing manhole. Customer agreed initial quotation and requested job to go ahead. On arrival at site, after breaking up a section of pathway it was found that the original path was deeper than normally expected and in order to break up and remove the total section would take longer than quoted, and more materials. It was discussed that a type1 sub-base would be laid and concreted to highest corner of manhole. On completion, customer came and checked said ‘oh that’s much better’. Customer was advised that they should keep an eye on the manhole as we felt that there was a possibility that it was sinking. Site was cleared and invoice was produced for a substantially lower amount and was subsequently paid and settled in a timely fashion, with no query or request of explanation of costs (which included 1.5 days on site, hire of a breaker, sand and cement and disposal of rubble) At no point did the customer intimate that they were unhappy with the workmanship or tidiness of the work completed, or the final cost of the works.
