I hired him to install a system boiler in my 5-bed HMO and paid a £2,500 deposit. After removing the old boiler, he failed to resolve a key issue with the stop valve, then changed the plan entirely to a combi boiler — which wasn’t suitable. He then walked off the job, leaving the property with no heating and 2 tenants inside, and kept £735.92 from my deposit (£600 labour + £135.92 materials). For incomplete work, this charge is excessive. Unprofessional and unreliable. I’m now considering legal action. Avoid unless you’re prepared to manage risk — and never pay a deposit upfront. 👎
