Avoid if you value technical competence and communication

    Posted 02 March

I chose Effective Home because they were recommended by Halifax, but the experience has been a catalogue of errors and mismanagement. After my deposit was take, the communication was poor. I was ignored for weeks by sales and compliance teams, and I eventually had to contact the DNO myself to move the application forward after Effective Home failed to do so for months. The installation day was very poor. Despite warnings during the design phase about roof dimensions by their own staff, the subcontracted team arrived with panels that were too large. I was pressured into accepting a smaller 5.

    Absolute awful customer service!!

    Posted 28 February

They are NOT an installer and sub-contract all work to local companies! The installation of our system went well, but the problems started when the system didn't work as promised. Effective Home don't respond unless you threaten to withhold payment. As soon as you made the final payment you don't get any meaningful response anymore! My system still doesn't work as advertised. Unfortunately, this problem occurred after my final payment. Hence radio silence from Effective Home. I am now considering legal action.

    Do NOT use this company!

    Posted 04 August 2025

Please DON’T use this company! Just pay a little extra and use a local company. Two months after the install and I still do not have a fully working system! The Effective Homes salesman, Jack mis-sold and lied to me. You will be told that all the staff used on the install are Effective Home staff, but they are not! Effective Home essentially contacts out everything. The roofers, electricians, scaffolders, waste collection and equipment delivery were all subcontracted. This matters, and I would not have used them if I had not been mis-sold!

Not worth the 'free' solar panels

    Posted 31 July 2025

Not worth the 'free' solar panels This company seeks out customers eligible for solar panel grant funding (disabled vulnerable people). They have no understanding of how to deal with or the needs of vulnerable people despite signing up to a HIES code that provides explicit requirements to offer reasonable adjustments. The needs of this customer were made clear from the start, and ignored throughout. The company caused all manner of stress to my tenant with repeated incompetent admin (scaffolders not showing up, panels not showing up another day, no customer handover of the system, damage done

Effective Home - Hate Customers as they want what they have signed up and paid for.

Their sales team are good and will "suck you in" but after that you become their cash cow. They try to leave things out, they change specification without telling you, they have managers who will not visit site but who are quite happy, and encouraged, to lie to you and top managers who are bullies and encourage their other managers to be awful. They divulge your private information to sub-contractors, they leave their rubbish on site until you chase them. They smash a hole in your roof and walk away without telling you, on a wet night, and will not return. This company is a dreadful DO NOT USE

Negative Review of Solar Panel Installation Service by Effective Homes

    Posted 04 May 2024

Negative Review of Solar Panel Installation Service by Effective Homes I regret to inform you of my extremely disappointing experience with the solar panel installation service provided by Effective Homes. My dissatisfaction stems from several significant issues encountered throughout the process, which I feel compelled to share with others considering their services. Firstly, the initial agreement was for the installation of 16 solar panels. However, upon arrival, the installation team informed me that there was insufficient space on my roof for the agreed-upon number of panels and proceede
