I moved to a new address and found that although the boiler was working (hot water) the thermostat was not (therefore no heating) Dan came out same day to check the problem, confirmed I need a new thermostat. He came back a couple of days later to install a new - and much better quality - thermostat. I now have heating as well as hot water!
