2 Partition Walls
Posted 01 April 2022
Renovate a garden wall between two properties.
Nick quoted for work on a retaining wall in Nov 2021. He started in February insisting on upfront payment, in full, for the first phase, whilst mentioning that he was due “a small op”. After two days of work, he disappeared leaving the site insecure and unsafe – despite young families living there. He did not respond to any calls, emails, or texts for two months. I finally tracked down his co-Director who said Nick had spent 6 weeks recovering and was then on another job. Nick then refused to complete the rest of the work. Sorry to say I found him unreliable, untrustworthy and unsafe.Verified reviewerJob location: SP196 Posted 09 August 2021
Resin Driveway
Nick gave us a fair price on the driveway but there were a couple of things he said he would do which didn't happen i.E using full size edge blocks on the dig out parts (thin slips were used which can crack). Treating sleepers before they were fitted (this didn't happen even though he said they would). Beginning of this year I noticed stones missing in areas, I swept the driveway gathering them into the edge thinking this isn't right! Its slowly getting worse every month we're very upset about this! He said its not a maintenance free driveway and needs to be sealed every year! Really??!!Verified reviewerJob location: SO30Response from Gecko Projects
Well, it’s dated 6th Jan 2020 and he contacted us in July and now you in August, it’s been nearly 2 years since we installed this drive, so, firstly he didn’t have the funds for a fully SUDs compliant resin drive and chose to have a resin topping over an existing concrete drive which has nearly a 2 foot drop off to the neighbour and a new retaining wall was not in his budget so we had to install brick slips, if he had the budget for a full dig out we would of used full size blocks, the slips were shown to him at his place of work prior to ordering and they were fitted with SBR slurry on a full bed, these are also engineering grade and steel railings have been fitted since we have done this, they have possibly used an impact style drill and not a diamond core which is probably why they have broken The sleepers were from Jewsons, information here FSC Incised Sleeper Green Treated 2400 x 200 x 100mm (L x W x T). Incised and Treated to UC4 suitable for contact with the ground. Features & benefits • Preservative Treated against decay and fungal attack • Product is incised during manufacture to give longer lifespan • 15-year guarantee Yes a resin drive is NOT maintenance free, really, its low maintenance so it needs a power washing off yearly, constant wheel turning from tyres with potential stones in the tread can cause the resin bound to be grind out and will get worse if it is not maintained, you should re seal a resin drive every 3-5 years but with hi impact areas maybe every 18 months I hope this helps clear things up

Company agreed to work but now I cannot contact them
Nick came out to provide a quote for some patio work. The quote arrived and I agreed to the quote. Received a text reply advising he would be in touch to agree a time when the work could be done, as he was currently working 5-6 weeks ahead. I was ok with this. However, after 6 weeks passed, I tried to contact Nick but could not get a reply, either by telephone or text. It is now over 3 months since agreeing to the work, but still I have had no contact with Nick. I have called and texted without reply. This is unacceptable.Verified reviewerJob location: SO31Response from Gecko Projects
With reference to the negative review we have a policy that a deposit is paid to hold a date in the diary because we have a number of times turned up to jobs and they have had the work done another, the deposit secured a date, no deposit means we can not put the job in the diary, we are currently running at 10 weeks and no other customer seems to have a problem with this It’s unfortunate that in these busy times some customers slip the net, this is not intentional and we can only apologise for any inconvenience caused
