Before the job I set out clearly by email what steps I had already taken to rectify the issue including buying/installing a new thermostatic mixer. Upon visiting, the individuals concerned on 4 occasions kept suggesting the mixer was the solution when I knew it not to be. They then proceeded to tamper with the existing mixer, breaking it, before capping off the water and fleeing the scene. I had to buy and fit a new mixer myself just to have a working shower and the issue has not been resolved as the mixer was never the issue. The problem was unfixed and put me at unnecessary added cost.
Response from Hunt Stephenson Plumbing & Heating Ltd
We cannot comprehend why the customer has written this review of our company. Our tidiness, courtesy and reliability on every occasion is 100%, this is who we are, we even removed our work shoes whilst inside the property.
Although the customer informed us of the work he carried out, the actual shower mixer was faulty, as we demonstrated two defects.
A previous plumber had attended who stated the hot/cold feeds were the wrong way around. We investigated and demonstrated that the actual feeds were the correct way.
The customer and another plumber had attempted to work on the shower prior to our arrival. We felt it was best practice not to re-install the faulty shower mixer, as it would not be in the best interest of the customer (possible scalding). We informed the customer of the cap off and asked him how he would like us to proceed ie: whether he wanted us to re-assemble/source a mixer value, to which he responded no.
We cannot comment further as we do not know the type of valve he has purchased, and he does not wish us to have further contact, we were unable to resolve this issue due to this.
