I would definitely not recommend James Galvin Carpentry. Detailed review sent to Checkatrade. I bought my Kitchen in Howdens annual sale and to keep costs down, I prepared the kitchen space by myself removing all cabinets, worktops, flooring and tiles. I was told it was a straightforward weeks work. Looking back, alarm bells should have rung, when I queried the work in progress with James Galvin and his response was ‘this is how I do it”. I tried to work around problems, but It was an accumulation of errors, lack of co-operation and in the end feeling uncomfortable with this person in my home, I decided we should part company. I had just made the second of two £1000 payments. There are 19 errors inc. Jobs that need finishing. The largest being the double Belfast sink, mixer taps and an oak upstand that were all fitted incorrectly and need re-fitting, along with purchasing a new oak worktop. I am a single Mum and used my daughters’ savings, therefore the situation I found myself in was beyond distressing. Mr Galvin refuses to refund any money, instead he has told me to get my Solicitor to contact him!

James was excellent throughout the process

We could not fault James at all in his workmanship, cleanliness, friendliness and communication. A truly excellent job and I have already passed James number on to friends and my clients. I can not rate James highly enough and have already booked him in for other work in our home.

James was personally referred to me by a friend. He was quick to come round and his quote was very reasonable. Before he started he gave us excellent advice regarding the door furniture, as well as steering me in the correct way of protecting and sealing the doors he had hung. Work was conducted quickly and to a very high standard with clarification sought when alterations were necessary. James was also extremely conscientious in clearing up after himself . His work is exemplary and his manner is extremely friendly. We have already booked him to replace our upstairs doors later this spring.
