James supplied and fitted 10 corrogated plastic roof sheets and removed and disposed of the old sheets. The job was completed ok; but since August- have had these issues with the job:
- White stickers remained on the sheets and not removed prior to fitting
- Packing material between sheets and wood coming loose
- Front plastic to secure sheets coming loose
- Sheet fully bent and blown off with wind
- "Repaired" but leaking within a few weeks
- Sheet bent again following a repair
Disappointed with the standard and the constant need to request James to repair- it's not safe/fit for purpose.
Response from James Wright Property Maintenance
As we are unable to privately resolve the issues we're having, I'd like to share my opinion on the points you raised here.
- This is the first time I'm hearing the stickers are a problem, 5 months since installation
- The "packing material" you mentioned are called eaves fillers. They became loose in places due to bowing and movement in the timber frame. I came back and rectified this straight away
- The small section of plastic fascia that bowed up was also rectified quickly
- The roof was then damaged by storm Ciaran. I returned immediately and made repairs out of my own pocket (Paid for materials and a labourer, due to working at height)
- I have offered to make good the slight leak, but you now want a full refund on materials and some of the labour cost back, which I believe is totally unreasonable
Lastly, I think "constant need" is a bit strong. I've been back 3 times in 5 months. 2 of those visits were for minor problems and the other one was due to storm damage. In my opinion, it shows I care about my work and own it if things do go wrong.
