Decking

Issues include decking legs floating off the floor, screws holding legs up off the patio and bitumen dripped everywhere. Because Elam's decking was not usable it had to be dismantled entirely. Whenever we spoke Elam agreed to refund £150 of the £300 I had paid him. He recently rang me and didn't allow me to reply. My response is, that photos show your work was not acceptable! I wasn't being 'difficult', joists need hangers for expansion, and noggins must be screwed to stop wood twisting. I was fair, allowing you time to repay me. Please do the decent thing and return the money you promised

Velux window repair

Repair of some leaking Velux windows and another crack in some flashing. Arrived to give good value quote quickly and came back to carry out the work early and very efficiently. Highly recommended.

He turned up on time and assessed what needed doing. We discussed the options and agreed what was to be done at what I thought was a fair price. He completed the job safely and tidied up afterwards so I was very satisfied overall and I've booked him to come back to do some more work.

Decking frame

Although he seemed a nice guy, Elam was not competent for this job. As photos show, his decking frame would not have lasted. It had to be completely dismantled. He did agree to refund £200 of the £300 I paid him, but he is no longer responding. Photos show legs floating off the floor. Screws holding legs up off the concrete. Lengths of wood rather than legs & insufficient. No waterproofing under the legs. Instead Elam slopped the Bitument over the top of the wood and over the patio, despite me repeatedly asking him to stop. Elam wanted to start the decking that day but I asked they left.

Fixed leaking roof which was causing minor water ingress.

Elam came out promptly, spent some time identifying the cause of the leak, photographed and videoed it and explained it and the options to me clearly. We agreed a price and he did the work same day. No issues since. I trust Elam and his work and recommend him.

Chimney repair

Elam came and gave us a very reasonable quote, and was able to start work immediately. He video'd everything he could see from the roof, and talked through the damage and what would need repairing. We felt he was upfront and honest about his findings. He worked together with his colleague and completed the job in around 3 hours. We're pleased with the quality of his work and intend to ask him for a quote for other work we need doing.
