  Barn renovation

  Olly Peters and LDT Building and Carpentry started work on our barn conversion in Dec 2019 having provided a quote for both materials and labour. By the end of July 2020 Olly was more than 100% over both quotes and took no responsibility or accountability and ignored a fixed finishing budget that had been agreed. Olly was completely out of his depth, left countless jobs unfinished or botched, left the drainage an open sewer, holes in the roof, rain water draining into the house and the floor over 100mm out. He completely disregarded building regulation notes and didn't return calls. Unreliable

  In December 2019 LDT started works on the customer’s property. I provided an estimate for a list of labour items and an estimate for a list of materials. A fixed price quote wasn’t given due to the nature of the work and the likelihood of additions that couldn’t be predicted. The customer instructed me to carry out additional work not estimated for almost immediately. There were also a large number of ground works that needed to be carried out, including footings and drainage, that had been missed by the customer and his architect at the stage of estimate. It soon became clear that the customer’s budget was unrealistic and his cash flow was very tight. The customer was relying on incoming funds from letting his other property to fund the project. This unfortunately didn’t happen due to the global pandemic and national lock down. LDT were supplying up to five operatives per day. The customer allowed the works to continue, however when I approached for payment I was informed there were no funds remaining and so I pulled off the project to avoid any more loss of earnings.

  Cupboard built to store utilities

  I required a large cupboard/unit to store my washing machine and tumble drier. Olly made a large cupboard to store the utilities. Olly worked on his anitutive and went the extra mile during the job to put a shelf within the cupboard to provide further storage (something I hadn't thought of but is now a god send!) The space that originally looked messy, is now tidy and confined. The cupboard was built to such high quality and provision that I think it compliments the room, and isn't just a 'cupboard'. Olly is friendly, polite, tidy, professional and clearly a very skilled carpenter.

  Assembled new build timber frame house and internal carpentry

  Olly and his team were extremely pleasant to work with building our new timber frame home. They did a great job on the construction and helping us coordinate the other trades and consultants necessary to the project. We heavily depended on their knowledge and skills and we appreciated their ‘can do’ attitude. We would most certainly recommend Olly and his team.

  Boarding and insulation of loft, installation of velux windows and shelving
