The customer called our office and booked an engineer to attend to ascertain whether a fan & light unit was dangerous. She believed it was but wanted it checked for peace of mind. It was very quickly apparent that the unit was dangerous as smoke started issuing from it. In order to safely isolate the fan we removed a fuse & also disconnected the fan/light from the installation. It was explained to the customer that we would need to quote a replacement. Whilst there the customer asked us to look at some other lights that she would like a price to replace and make safe as these were also in a dangerous condition. Our standard call out fee includes the first half an hours labour and this visit was completed within that period of time. This is our minimum charge for a call out and was explained to the customer at the time when she booked in. The customer signed the engineers worksheet to say that she agreed the work had been completed to her satisfaction. Our estimate was sent out free of charge as advertised.
