Blocked sink. Was at work when plumber called to fix an upstairs internal bathroom sink. He spent two hours putting acid down the sink and after each time had to wait 20mins. He left the sink unblocked and charged me £148.74 with the tap not working for hot water. I asked them to give me a price for fixing it and they never came back to me.
Response from Mallinson Plumbing & Heating
We were contacted by the customer to unblock two sinks. One in the upstairs bathroom and one in the downstairs toilet. There was no access as all waste pipework ran inside the walls so we had to use sulphuric acid to remove the blockages. This process takes 30 mins to take effect. We fixed the downstairs toilet waste but could not unblock the upstairs bathroom as the waste required access. Unfortunately, permission was not granted as the customer was unavailable at the time of the job. We told the customer’s son and asked for the customer to contact us. No contact was made. After sending the invoice, the customer questioned what we had done and we explained that more work was required but also explained that an exact price cannot be provided as we could not estimate how many tiles required to be removed and how much damage to plaster was going to occur. We never heard back from the customer and as the invoice was paid the same day, did know that she was not happy with our service. We are a family run business who have been trading for over forty years and look after all customers. We would have been happy to discuss this further but again did not know she was not happy.
