We were provided by a specification for this job by the customer. We were clear in our quotation that we were providing goods “as per the specification provided”. When they were received, having been made to measure, it was discovered that the design was flawed and would not work. This disrupted our schedule as we were unable to complete the work in the time we had allocated. We came up with an alternative solution which was to provide a design for the porch in timber, which we duly built without charging any additional money, despite the fact that we now have a tailor made upvc door and frames which we have paid for and are completely useless. The end product of the porch was in fact stunning and in our opinion, better that the original design as we even matched the glazing of the porch to the leaded style of the original Victorian house’s windows. To receive this feedback on a job where we have lost a significant amount of time and money despite producing a first class product, and before we have been paid, seems unfair in the extreme.
