We called Plumbwells to service our boiler and fix a fault where it repeatedly cut out. We paid £150 and were told it was resolved, but it failed again within hours. A second visit (£300) resulted in the boiler still not working, with advice that the burner was faulty, parts were difficult to source, and any repair would come with no guarantee.
After two failed visits, we were then asked to pay upfront for £200 for part. At this point, confidence was lost.
A different engineer diagnosed the actual fault within 10 minutes a cracked capacitor and fixed it for £75.
Plumbwells did refund £150
Response from Plumbwells Plumbing Ltd
We were very disappointed to read this review as this issue was resolved amicably privately, with a refund given. When the burner was fitted the engineer advised it wouldn't come with a guarantee and it was only fitted temporally to give you heat whilst we ordered the new part. This is why you were not charged for the part.
The boiler was very old, with many failing parts and really needed replacing. Your house was on the market at the time you advised a new boiler wasn't an option and just wanted a short term fix whilst the sale went through.
