Deposit Scam - Avoid
Avoid. I paid a £255 deposit by bank transfer for plumbing work, then he did not attend and the work was never completed. He later said he would refund me, but never did. This felt very intentional rather than disorganised. The payment was taken into a personal bank account that looked like a business account, and once he had the money, communication changed. In my view, this is exactly the kind of behaviour that targets people who may feel awkward challenging tradesmen.
