  I had the privilege of working with Oliver Thorne on one of my recent renovation projects. I have worked with different people on a variety of projects before but none have been as experienced or as professional as Oliver. Oliver helped me with all aspects of the project from identifying problems from the outset to finding efficient solutions at every step of the way. From assistance on Surveying/Structural advice/Planning/Design/Building Control right through to completion Olivers wealth of knowledge and experience helped me make a success of the project.

  Advice given on roof light.

  I rang Oliver to ask him to come and look at whether we could put up a roof hatch access point on our roof. He very generously gave me twenty minutes of him time and expertise totally without charge, and his advice was brilliant - we were very happy to take it and this altered the course of what we would have done, so I'm very pleased with the service we got and happy to recommend!

  Survey of property, advice and negotiation very satisfactorily carried out.

  I could not have asked for my helpful assessment of a flood situation and a difficult negotiation with Thames Water. Also an assessment of neighbour's building works and the possible affect on my own property. I was given very sound advice.

  Each element of our works programme was methodically assessed and professional advice was forthcoming when challenged by the directors of our company. Before appointing Ridgeback to provide advice and oversee works programme we had interviewed other companies. What set Ridgeback apart from other companies was their ability to offer coherent advice and detailing to us nonprofessional. For us (directors) generalisation and approximations was simply too vague and risky, this is what the competitors offered. So we steered clear of them. Approximations exist in this kind of work, he got it right.

  Extension: new kitchen, bathroom, replastering and decoration, and garden area

  From a Nightmare into a Dream! I knew that this job wasn't going to be easy. A late Victorian property, largely untouched in 25 years, riddled with previous 'quick fixes' and a number of logistical issues. The Party Wall Agreements were a complex situation, and owner / surveyor Oliver brilliantly sorted them. The Build itself was immensely challenging, but throughout site manager Naim and his team were excellent; decent, incredibly hard working, and they care! Helen their interior designer then took things to another level. There's not enough space in this box to write how good they have...
