With a five-lever mortice sashlock or deadlock, the locking mechanism is morticed into a slot in the door and the strike plate is fitted to the door frame. Every 5 lever has a latch operated by a handle on both sides of the door and a deadbolt key operated from both sides. A five-lever mortice deadlock conforming to BS3621 is locked and unlocked by a key from either side, and has additional security features incorporated into its design.
This type of lock is extremely popular and found on many different types of door locks and security applications. A euro cylinder forms an integral part of many types of locks including multi-point locks used on PVCu doors and some mortice locks used on timber doors. There are three basic types of euro cylinder: • Single Cylinder – Euro profile single cylinders offer key access from one side only • Double Cylinder – Euro profile double cylinders offer key access from both sides of the door • Double Cylinder with Thumbturn – Euro profile Thumbturn cylinders offer key access from one side and a thumbturn from the other side of the door.
Simple and easy to use, a thumb turn cylinder means you can lock and unlock your door internally without the use of a key.
An oval cylinder has an oval shape and is used in conjunction with an oval mortice lock case.
Non deadlocking means that you cannot 'double lock' the latch from outside with the key, stopping you from being able to open the lock from inside by the handle. This is ideal on a property with multiple occupants or on a communal door.
Rim (automatic) deadlatch with key locking handles deadlatch A Rim automatic deadlatch with key-locking handle is mounted on the inside of the door. Cylinder within the lock connects to the keyhole on the outside of the door. These offer extra security at night, allowing homeowners to lock their doors more securely from the inside.
Often used with metal doors
Rim cylinders are part of a Rim nightlatch system (often referred to as a Yale type lock ) found on wooden and timber doors, they are the outer part that you interact with on the outside to open the door with a key.
A mortice lock (mortice sashlock) has a latch and bolt to open and close the lock.

his is a rim-locking system that bolts the door into the frame and offers a higher level of security. A multi-point locking system has a minimum of three locking points that all lock simultaneously by the turn of a key. These are most common on patio or French doors - typically uPVC doors - and less common for main entrance points. The bolts are normally operated by lifting the door handle from either side of the door leaf and are locked in place by the turn of a key from either face of the door or, if the door is the only means of escape, by an internal thumbturn. The compression bolts, if fitted, and or the hook bolts pull the door tightly into the weather seals in the frame to keep it weather tight.
