On getting an independent damp survey, I also asked Stephen to come round to quote and he gave the same answers, which showed us just how knowledgeable he was on sorting the root of the problem vs just masking it. The work was carried out on time and even though it was a messy and big job for a small flat, the team tidied everything away and were really respectful e.g making sure the electrics were all correct, all the furniture protected and any rubbish removed so it didn't feel too overwhelming. Would highly recommend SM Preservations for future proofing your home.

Stephen and his team completed some damp work in our kitchen and utility room in April this year. This is the second time we have hired them because they did an incredible job at the front of our house the year before. I highly recommend Stephen and his team and will book them for any damp work that might need doing on this house and future houses. SM Preservations undertook internal damp proofing work to three chimney walls, including the removal of a large volume of fitted furniture which was covering one of the affected walls. Team were professional, punctual and worked incredibly tidily considering the mess generated! Stephen was on hand to answer questions and resolve any issues that arose. Project completed exactly within timeframe proposed.

I requested SM Preservations to address a damp problem in an external wall of my property. They carried out a detailed inspection and identified the cause as cracking in the external render that was permitting rain penetration. They repaired the cracks, removed the damp-affected internal plaster, installed a dampproof membrane, and replastered the wall. The team from SM arrived punctually, were very respectful of my property and its contents, and carried out the work to a very good standard. I am very satisfied with the result and would fully recommend SM for carrying out work of this nature.

Stephen was thorough in his initial investigation and explained everything clearly to me. The work was scheduled and the team arrived promptly, carefully protected flooring and screened other rooms to minimise the movement of dust. The work took 5 days and the team arrived promptly each morning and worked solidly, quietly, and tidily until the end of the day. All rubbish was removed from site and the area left as clean and tidy as possible ready for the next stage (decoration). All of the team were excellent and expert and happy to explain to me what they were doing and why.

Stephen and his team did a great job tackling a rising damp problem in our kitchen. They were very professional, kept everything neat, and stayed in good communication throughout. The work was completed on time and within budget. Overall, it was a very good experience.
