Great service for our extension
I used Solid Design for the structural calculations and drawings for my house extension. From the initial discussion through to receiving the completed drawings, the process was straightforward and professional. They were helpful when I had questions and explained everything clearly, which made the structural side of our extension much less stressful. Extended Kitchen Area
For some internal modifications to the Kitchen area we had to have an existing loadbearing wall removed, to be replaced by a new steel beam. Calculations and a drawing were provided for these works to be presented to Building Control for approval and to the Builder. Solid Design provides professional structural engineering services to homeowners, property buyers, landlords, architects and contractors. We prepare structural calculations, reports, technical drawings and supporting documentation for submission to Building Control and other relevant approval bodies.
All work is undertaken in accordance with current Building Regulations, applicable British Standards, Eurocodes and recognised structural engineering practice. Our designs and recommendations are based on the project details and property information available at the time of our appointment.
We work with clients, contractors, architects, Building Control and other project professionals to develop safe, practical and buildable structural solutions. Reasonable technical queries and revisions arising directly from the Building Control review process are included within the agreed scope.
The client, contractor and project team must notify Solid Design promptly of any unexpected site conditions, concealed defects, discrepancies or discoveries that could affect the structural design. As our work relies on the information supplied being accurate and complete, additional inspections, calculations or redesign may be required if new information becomes available. This work may be subject to an additional fee.
All structural information must be properly coordinated and followed during construction. Any proposed alteration or departure from the issued design must be referred to Solid Design for assessment and written confirmation before it is carried out. Responsibility for construction methods, workmanship, temporary works and the correct execution of the design remains with the appointed contractor.
