  Window repair and replacement

  Zak did the work he did complete well, but he never replaced the one window which he had to have manufactured and basically stopped communicating re installation dates and broke promise of getting back to us with an installation date by the following day… ADDITION 03.08 - Following my earlier review Zak has been in touch and we are working together to get this resolved and the window installed. Zak does an excellent job and hence I am happy to give him another chance- and after all I would recommend him.

  This was a misunderstanding and has now been resolved. Frank has asked to withdraw this review. I was replying back to him on his Swiss Phone and my network was not allowing the messages to send through. The work is booked in and going ahead. I have done 2 previous jobs for Frank and all ok

  Overcharged and not transparent

  I contacted this trader to repair a faulty tilt-and-turn window in E15. The job involved replacing the handle, spindle and gearbox/mechanism. I agreed £230 by phone and was later told the normal price is £260. The repair appears to work, but I found the price very high and the explanation unclear. When I asked what parts had been fitted, I received only the vague description “spindled handle gearbox”, with no manufacturer or model. I was also initially given general business overheads rather than a clear breakdown. At this price, I expected much better transparency and clearer communication.

  We attended the property as agreed and told you the job would usually cost £260 however we would do a deal of £230 and you told us to go ahead. We said the handle gear box and spindle was broken. You said go ahead. So we fixed the window. You then stated it's a little expensive. We advised you on everything before the job. You then asked us for part numbers and models which we do not have. We advised you the parts we changed and also you agreed . We have submitted this for a Checkatrade review as the messages from you clearly state this.

  work completed satisfactorily

  They came and completed the work very quickly. They assured me it will not happen again. The door closes very easily. They explained what the problem was and how when the last person had fixed it, they had not done it properly. It made sense to me and I am trusting that this repair will last.
