Carried out a questionable repair for a roof leak affecting my bathroom. Had to contact them again as water came back in two weeks later at exactly the same spot as it did before. They came back out and came up with another reason for the leak. Despite me parting with £2018 two weeks previously they wanted another £4500 or £1904 both excluding vat to rectify the problem. I called another two independent roofing companies and I was told by both that they had overcharged me for the work carried out and did did not resolve the issue with the leak. I have raised a complaint with NFRC.
Response from Town & Country Roofing Services Ltd
Arrived at property following a telephone call, found there to be a strong smell within the property but no evidence of water penetration. Advised by client that the new dormer construction was perfect and that the defect was out with same. Inspected property and found defects to gutter and bonding gutter to mutual property
Agreed with client extent of works costed same and was accepted and the works carried out correctly. Sometime later we a were advised that water was still entering property, still no clear signs within the property, this time inspected the dormer and found numerous defects in the tiling and lead, all of which would permit water to enter property, completed a water test and proved our comments
Provided estimate, by was declined
Another contractor arrived and altered an aluminium soaker to the vertical side of the dormer, suggested that this was the only defect, given this repair to be correct we would suggest that water had been entering the property since day one of the completed dormer
Given that we were directed away from the dormer, we offered an estimate for repair works to defective areas of the roof that could be seen
This in no way was an estimate to eradicate water penetration.
