When I was quoted for the job I was advised it would take no longer than 8 hours unless there were major issues (which there weren’t), but it took longer. Not only was I billed for the time the guy spent unpacking his stuff and packing his tools away at the end, but I was also billed for the guys lunch break. I was billed for 11 hours but when I complained they took 30 minutes off. The price I was quoted was before VAT. With both of things my bill was much higher than anticipated. My local friends have advised me that for the work done, the bill is extortionate.
Response from West Wales Electrical Solutions
We are very sorry to hear this feedback, especially as you were very happy when our electrician left the site and after I came to check on the job with you in the afternoon. You paid an arbitrary amount that presumably you feel is fair?
The job was estimated at 8hrs to wire and install 3 new sockets in the main bedroom and then TV points to that bedroom and the lounge. This involved chasing walls and lifting carpets and floorboards. I also said that we could do another bedroom on the day but NOT in the time period.
On the day I attended the site and before I left, I clearly stated that there was a lot of work and if the job overrun you could pay interest free over a few months. It overrun my original estimate by 3 hrs. The amount of work was completely your choice. You ended up with 5 new double sockets and 3 TV points in the two main bedrooms and Lounge, all chased and fished through walls and under floorboards. TV points were chased and run separately from the loft. 11hrs work unassisted. Finally, you stated you were happy with the work.
