Beware! Quoted for servicing my Tilt and Turn windows, explaining how long the job would take (four to five hours) and what would happen (windows removed, mechanisms reassembled). On that basis, I agreed to the price quoted. In the end they were three hours late in attending and the job took just over an hour and involved a lot, lot less work than was quoted for. Trying to rectify this gross over-charging proved impossible. Prospective customers should be wary of this very dubious practice and poor customer care. Well, yer windows is working, ain't they isn't a reasonable remedy nor is it much.
Response from Window Maintenance Services Ltd
You were quoted £788 + VAT to carry out these works. You phoned me and we agreed a price of £720 + VAT. The actual repairs went better than anticipated, we often find problems that cannot be spotted on survey. I understand that the fitters carried out some work on two other windows and doors. As far as time goes – it was done in a quicker time than expected but you have not taken into consideration travelling time, that was one of the reasons they were late on site (due to traffic). The other part of our costs you have not been taken into account is our 12-month warranty – meaning if anything goes wrong with your windows we will have to return to site at no charge. There is also the cost of my visit along with our overhead costs, insurance, vehicles, factory staff etc. As a gesture of goodwill, tilt and turn windows should be serviced on a twelve-month basis. We will carry one of these services out free of charge. When the time comes all you will have to do is phone to make the appointment – this works will also carry a 12 month warranty.
