New felt, boarding and insulation to flat roofs
Both Mark and Steve worked relentlessly, dodging rain showers, to ensure the job was completed quickly, whilst maintaining a high quality finish and attention to detail. Cost less than some of Terry's competitors but standard of workmanship was second to none. Straightforward to deal with. I would recommend them.

Roof repairs.
I was most impressed bu his honesty, I had expected to need the whole roof replaced (labour £7000) but he said that this was not required and that a few repairs were all that were needed. When he did the work it took less time than expected and the price was reduced accordingly.

Renewal of lead flashing & resealing of garage roof.
I own a link styles home with a garage between my house and the adjoining property, the roof has been leaking along the side join with both houses especially when it receives the force of the rain. Mr Drake carried out an estimate, and the work was eventually arranged for 18/08/2007. Mr Drake bought a man around with ladders on the day, but I felt uneasy with this man, as he was working outside, I left the matter. The man left at 2.15pm that day for domestic reasons and came back the next day for 2 hours then left, leaving the ladders. Debris and cigarette buts were left on drive and front lawn. The ladders were collected the next day. I paid the bill with no receipt and no CAT feedback card. The debris was cleared up but took 48 hours. When it rained again, the leak was still apparent, Mr Drake came to do repairs approx 15 mins. The next time it rained (much heavier), there were numerous streams of water from the join, far more that originally. Mr Drake came back and cemented in the ridge tiles, on leaving I told Mr Drake I was not pleased with the work, Mr Drake threw his ladder in the back of his pick up, which frightened me. The leak continued and I contacted Mr Drake again as I wanted a second opinion, he said 'the water is coming through from the cavity wall of next door' if this was the case there would be horizontal bands of dampness on the wall not streams of water which dry up as soon as it stops raining. I asked Mr Drake if he was now not prepared to visit or carry out anymore work. He said that this is not what he said but he had 'photos of the work'. I have not heard from him since. I now have no confidence in work carried out by Mr Drake. I feel there are now only 2 courses of action, I instruct another firm to complete the work with all cost to be met by Mr Drake, or he refunds me the FULL cost of the work, and I will then arrange new repair myself.

After providing an estimate, the work was carried out over the weekend, which the customer was agreeable to and the site cleared 48 hours later. The next time it rained the customer called so I returned to investigate. I found nothing obviously wrong. I received a call the next time it rained and although it was leaking I could not find anything wrong with the roof or the work that had beeen carried out, I left explaining I would be back to fully investigate when it was not raining, I left on what I thought were good terms. (I did not throw my ladders on my truck.) I returned as promised with two of my men, we stripped off a thrid of the roof and checked the work previously completed and found it to be sound, I decided to be extra cautious and we replaced the felt where the water was coming in and sealed it against the wall to ensure the problem was not with the roof, this was done at no extra cost to the customer. We photographed the work to reassure the customer. Two weeks later the customer phoned to say water was still coming in and very abruptly accused me of ripping her off and refusing to return to sort out the problem. I explained I was at a loss as to where the water was coming from, from a roofing perspective I had done everything I could to rectify the problem. She suggested getting inanother roofer to look at it and I readily agreed being totally confident in my work. I suggested we also have some one look at the possibility with the cavity wall - not something that I myself can deal with. I completely understand the customers fustration but I feel I have acted fairly and honestly, I cannot fix a problem if it is not a roofing problem. If it is proven to be such or a problem with works carried out by T Drake Roofing, I will happily refund the customer in full.
