What is Sponsored Reach?

We've recently launched Sponsored Reach to give your business additional visibility and drive more traffic to your Checkatrade profile from beyond Checkatrade. This is an initial launch, and we'll keep expanding and improving it over time. It's available to trades with an active Sponsored Listings (Managed Advertising) campaign, and it works by showing your listing on selected third-party sites and apps outside Checkatrade. It's currently available on Facebook and Instagram, and may be expanded to other social media platforms and search engines in the future.

Like Sponsored Listings, Sponsored Reach increases your visibility. It does not guarantee profile views, enquiries, jobs or revenue.

Why Trades Choose Sponsored Reach

Reach customers beyond Checkatrade

Sponsored Reach displays your listing on selected third-party search engines and social media platforms (only Facebook and Instagram at current), putting your business in front of customers who may not yet be searching on Checkatrade.

More visibility from the budget you already have

Sponsored Reach works within your existing Sponsored Listings (Managed Advertising) budget. There's no separate spend to set up and no new commitment.

Only pay for performance

You’re charged only when someone clicks on your sponsored listing. No wasted spend on impressions that don’t matter.

You stay in control

Your existing Checkatrade campaigns are unaffected, and you can opt out at any time if you'd prefer your adverts to appear only on Checkatrade. Your opt-out will take effect from the start of your next billing cycle, in line with the Managed Advertising Terms.

1. How much does Sponsored Reach cost?

Sponsored Reach works within your existing Sponsored Listings (Managed Advertising) budget. That same budget is now used to show your listing both on Checkatrade and on selected third-party platforms, rather than on Checkatrade alone. You're still only charged when someone clicks your listing, and never more than your agreed monthly budget.

2. How are leads charged?

If a click becomes a lead, it's deducted from your fixed plan quota or added to your pay-as-you-go balance. When a homeowner clicks your Sponsored Listing, you're charged for that click. The homeowner can click to visit your profile, click to reveal your phone number or click to send you a direct message. If the homeowner proceeds to contact you, you will also be charged for that lead separately under your pay-as-you-go plan or it will count towards your fixed plan budget (depending on the type of campaign you have signed up for). Because the click and the lead are charged separately, you could pay for both without it becoming a booked job. Sponsored Listings increase your visibility, they don't guarantee profile views, enquiries, jobs or revenue. 3. Can I see how my sponsored reach campaign is performing?

Whilst in the initial launch phase, detailed reporting for Sponsored Reach isn't available. If the pilot is a success, we'll look to introduce reporting in future so you can see how your campaign is performing, and we'll let you know as that becomes available.

4. Will this affect my existing campaigns or budget?

No. Your current Sponsored Listings setup is unaffected, your total Managed Advertising spend won't exceed the budget you've already set. If you'd like to increase your budget to make the most of Sponsored Reach, you can do this by contacting support.

5. Where will my listing appear?

Your listing may appear on selected third-party sites and apps outside of Checkatrade, such as search engines and social media platforms (only Facebook and Instagram at current). We may look to expand to other types of platforms in the future.

6. How do I opt out?

You can opt out of Sponsored Reach at any time if you'd prefer your advertising to appear only on Checkatrade. Once your opt-out takes effect, your campaign will continue to run as Sponsored Listings on Checkatrade and will no longer be shown outside of Checkatrade. Your opt-out will take effect from the start of your next billing cycle, in line with the Managed Advertising Terms.

You can opt out via the opt-out link in your account, or call us on 0333 014 6190.
