Replace loft-located amplifier and junction box
John duly showed up on time. Checked signal strength on television (only 6 per cent!). Checked loft. Said work would take 20 minutes. S Gave quote of £260 plus VAT. I reminded him of OAP discount and he reduced quote to £220 plus VAT.Verified reviewerJob location: BN79 Posted 29 October 2021
Replacing the amplifier in loft and connection box
John was personable and timely. He checked the TV for signal strength... a measly 6 per cent! He said the work would take 20 minutes and would cost £260 plus VAT. I referred to the OAP discount and the price was reduced to £220 plus VAT. This was not cheap. The parts at Screwfix would cost maximum £25.... John came from Worthing and he did it in 20 mins. So no regrets. BUT A andS have been taken over and the pricing has escalated markedly since I last used them. Checking and repairing aerial connections and fitting a new booster box.
Appointment booked one day after contacting this company. A young man called Harry arrived on time and diagnosed the problems we were having with our TV reception. He them completed the repairs in a most professional manner explaining clearly what he was doing and why. He was tidy and clearly very knowledgeable. Replacing damaged cables on tv aerial

I quoted him for the works required at his property. At first he said it was too much to pay. I advised that is not a problem, the quotations are free and with no obligation. He then offered me less but for cash. I declined his offer politely. He then asked me to go ahead and I carried out the works as required. I advised that his lashing kit is a bit loose but can’t be tightened because it’s corroded. He didn’t ask for a price to renew the lash. Half way though he produced a brand new splitter that he asked me to wiring in to replace the old one, I happily did this at no extra cost. Upon completion I cleared the area, he paid me £120 in cash for a £117.60 bill. He said he didn’t want any change. I thanked him and left. At no point did I loose n anything on the roof. As the bolts were too corroded to tighten they were also to corroded to loosen, I think he was unhappy I was willing to negotiate a cash job for him from the start.
