    Carpets / Flooring

My husband could have done a better job. Given them plenty of opportunity to fix the floor and been out several times. When they said they don’t have the tools to lift a floor this should have been a red flag. Not even an apology! I will be getting hold of trading standards if this is not resolved.

    Response from Avellino Flooring Ltd

We completed the initial works back in June 2021. It wasn't until March 2022 that we were informed some bubbles had appeared. Although this type of issue usually appears sooner and are easier to sort then, we still attended, and at our own expense, replaced all the affected flooring. We cleared an entire day and sent the whole team. The customer was asked to inspect this closely and asked if they had any other issues, which they didn't. A week later we were contacted again to say that more had appeared. We came straight back out. We asked the customer to point out where the bubbles were as they weren't apparent. She explained that you could only see them in a certain light when it's sunny. It was a sunny day. At this point, she insulted our fitters, went upstairs and shut the door to her bedroom. We obviously wanted to get this resolved and asked her to come out. The owner of the company called, wanting to speak with her to see what we could do to make her happy and resolve this, there was no response. As we were left in the property without any response from the customer, we had no choice but to leave. Immediately upon leaving we were sent texts insulting our company and staff, and photographs of areas she wasn't happy with. Had she interacted with our staff during the actual visit we could have, and would've been happy to resolve these. It seemed that she was unable to speak to us in person but only able to be uncivil via text.

    Laying LVT in a kitchen

Disappointing. The adhesive was poorly applied, so the tiles simply weren't attached in various places. The work included removal / replacement of white goods to the next room. Dishwasher wasn't correctly reconnected and wooden floor of the next room got multiple scratch marks. Avellino have insurance on which we claimed to cover a repair to the wooden floor. 3.5 months later the claim has not yet been processed and in the interim Avellino have not contacted us once to see if the matter is resolved. Conversely, they wanted payment (by card machine) the minute the workmen finished.

    Response from Avellino Flooring Ltd

We're sorry to hear you are disappointed. As discussed, we are happy to come back out and fix any issues with the tiles. When we apply the adhesive, we can only do so thinly in order for the glue to not look bulky or messy under the LVT. As the floor is freshly prepped with latex this can ‘drink’ a lot of the adhesive quickly and as a result, some tiles can become loose. This isn’t indicative of a fitting or product fault and is easily resolved - we would love the chance to do so for you. We did unfortunately scratch the wooden floorboards in your other room when we moved the heavy white goods. Even though this was localised, it was mentioned that the entire room would need to be re-sanded and varnished. We provided our insurance company with all the information and assumed that this had been resolved as we hadn’t heard anything from you. I have chased this up with them again and am awaiting their response. With regards to the payment upon completion we believe this to be a fair and trusted way to conduct business, bearing in mind that most shops and contractors require 100% payment up front before any products leave the store or fitting works are booked.

Fitting carpets to bedroom, hallway and lounge and vinyl to kitchen.

This is a company that knows what customer service means! The whole process from choosing the products (which appear to be really good quality) to fitting, was completely stress free. The fitters were respectful of my home and were the only tradespeople who visited, that offered to wear a mask. Vince and Jade are friendly, but knowledgeable and professional and I wouldn’t have any hesitation in using them again.
